There was an extension called CSS4K2. You can try this one.
If you want some code for reference you can download a free template from www.joomlaworks.net/joomla-templates/free-templates/takai and check the /includes/helper.php file.

Hello there,

You should address this issue to the JCH devs in case they know a workaround.

What Eric said. But if you only want to change the style, and not the markup, there's an easier way. As long as your theme includes the body_class() call in the opening body tag, WP will add all sorts of useful CSS hooks to your page. The default markup will add the follwing classes to the body element on a category archive: archive category ;category-slug
which you can style as you like. A lot of theme frameworks will add even more useful hooks to your body class, although some of them I can't possibly see the real-world use cases for:

WordPress automatically adds CSS classes to different elements throughout your website. These include both the body class and the post class.

For example, if you view a category archive page and then use the Inspect Tool, you will notice category and category-name CSS classes in the body tag.
You can use this CSS class to style each individual category differently by adding custom CSS that you can use as a starting point.
Don’t forget to change the category name in the CSS class with your own category name.
