Hi yes both Joomla and K2 are the latest versions.

I followed B.A. Umbergers' instructions to the letter.

I have also now tried Firefox as well, same problem. Previously I tried it in Chrome. Both browsers are latest versions.

So it seems that comments protected via recaptcha is not working for my site at all.

Are you using the latest version of K2? Also you are not behind a CDN by any chance?

No 3rd party caching plugins. Disabled caching still the same problem.

I cannot get this working either.

I get told that the words I have entered are wrong every time.

I have settings on my Joomla 2.5 as above.

I have tried as registered and unregistered users, no difference. IN my case I really only want my site users have the ability to post comments. And I would love them to use recaptcha.

Make sure you are using K2's and Joomla!'s latest version, the Recaptcha URL has recently been changed.

Also make sure your site has the correct permissions for files/ folders.

I've followed all instructions I can find to try and fix this issue in order to get the reCaptcha displaying on the comments section in K2 items.

Have:

1. Disabled the Captcha ReCaptcha Plugin
2. Set User Configuration - Captcha "None selected"
3. Set K2 Parameters for Comments to Enable reCaptcha in Comments to "Yes"
4. Copied and Pasted Keys to K2 Advanced Parameters
5. Disabled reCaptcha on Registration Form
6. Disabled StopForumSpam.com integration on the user registration form
7. Enabled Comments on the items

Why wont the reCaptcha display? All it does is show the words: "Enter the two words you see below", followed by nothing.

Have searched and searched and can't find a fix. This is actually happening on two websites that I've created.

I don't think that is the issue. Which version of Joomla! and K2 are you using?

Hi, I tried more or less all the suggestions from above, but I didn't work.

Funny thing is, that in the beginning it worked without any problems. But I think after I switched my website to german the images stopped to appear. Are there any known issues with the languages and the recaptcha function in k2? If no, has anyone an idea how to solve the problem? Would it help if I show you the website with the problem? This has been fixed in the newer versions of K2. For older ones your fix does the trick :)

Google has changed javascript URL. This affects both Joomla reCaptcha and K2. To make it to work I did this:

Joomla plugin:
Edit plugins/captcha/recaptcha/recaptcha.php and change URL
Line 24: const RECAPTCHA_API_SERVER = "api.recaptcha.net/recaptcha/api";
Save file.


K2:
Edit components/com_k2/views/item/view.html.php and change URL
Line 168: change URL to "api.recaptcha.net/recaptcha/api/js/recaptcha_ajax.js"
Save file.

Done! Working for me now!

Just another question. This forum uses Google reCaptcha, and it seems it's working fine. Do you know if K2 forum uses additional extensions to prevent spam?
