Comments not working well
Category: English K2 Community
I had captcha working in the comments section after finding it not enabled and there where 86,000 spam comments. Just took over this site and I had to fix that. Did the enable and got public and private keys from recaptcha at google and it worked. I then went to the mysql database and the comments table was full like I said. I emptied the comments and then went back to the site and found that the comments section was not showing up on my items. I went in to parameters and changed the setting from registered only users to everyone. Now the comment form shows up but no captcha. I have two bugs now. No captcha and when I turn the comments form to registered users only it does not show up when a registered user logs in.

Yes, I have the public and private keys added and I have it enabled in K2. There is no indication of a script error. That's why I'm at a loss as to what might be causing it.
And this is happening on all of the setups I'm working on with K2 and even the basic template, so it really seems as though I'm missing an important step.
Thank you!

reCaptcha Problems
Category: English K2 Community
This issue has plagued me before and now has returned. Several other people and I have posted about the issue of reCaptcha appearing momentarily and then disappearing. I have had K2 2.2 with comments and reCaptcha working on a site for a year. For some reason this week the issue has cropped up again where the reCaptcha disappears.Last time I refreshed the /template/rt_affinity15/html/com_k2 folder and double-checked the domain at recaptcha.net and was able to finally resolved the issue. This time nothing is working. It seems there is some kind of AJAX scripting problems that make it very sensitive to breaking.Any ideas on what to look at would be appreciated. At them moment I have reCaptcha turned off so that users can comment. But, I fear I am now going to have to deal with spammers. I spent hours now reading all of the articles on reCaptcha on the K2 community site and the template provider, Rockettheme, and have come up with nothing. Thanks again Joomlaworks for a great component.

Simple Image Gallery - no thumbnails in admin - no comments possible when using image gallery
Category: English K2 Community
Hi,
Working on www.040uit.nl
Using template Rockettheme Versatiliy 4.
It came to my attention that, when displaying an image gallery, it is not possible to save a comment.
In IE8 I see following Error on Page, on screen bottom left:
Object doesn't support this property or methodmootools.js line 13mootools.js line 59roksameheight.js line 11
and also:
k2.js line 15 Code:0 Char:7 URI: www.040uit.nl/components/com_k2/js/k2.js
Using reCaptcha or not, does not make any difference.
In Firefox 3.6.3 I see these arrow going around and around and around....
Page is not being refreshed, but after refreshing manually I see the comment has been added.
In administrator pages I see no Simple Image Gallery thumbnails, after uploading a ZIP with photo's.
Maybe this error is related to the error of not saving comments?
With kind regards,
Edze

Hi. K2 uses reCAPTCHA and not a white page. Please check your setup again and also ensure that you are not getting any script errors preventing K2 from working as it should.
Jasperisu said:I have the same problem. It is now the reason im thinking to use Jomcomment instead, for the time being..
I signed up with ReCaptcha and obtained the public and private ReCaptch keys and filled them in in the backend parameters of K2.
K2 comments asks: fill in the 2 words you see... - but there's nothing to see there
K2 uses a new white page with some text to tell the user that some mandatory fields were missing in the comments? Too bad :s

recaptcha boken in svn revision 391
Category: English K2 Community
Hi, I recently downloaded the svn revision 391 to solve another issue I had.
After doing so I found that recaptcha on the comments form on my site no longer worked.
It had been working previously with the 2.2 release.
I don't know if I should be posing bugs about unreleased code but thought I should let you know about it.
The recapture_ajax.js is not being loaded and after debugging I found the culprits lines of code
at line 101 of views/item/tmpl/view.html.php
and line 105 of views/item/tmpl/view.raw.php
this same line uses the wrong variable to determine the user status in each of these files.
if ($item->params->get('recaptcha') && $this->user->guest) {
it should be
if ($item->params->get('recaptcha') && $user->guest) {
there may be other places as well but changing these two lines fixed it for me.
forgive me if this is not the way to get this fixed, I'm fairly new here.
regards
lynton

3) Submit
4) Error "The captcha wasn't entered correctly. "reCAPTCHA said: incorrect-captcha-sol" the home page is bizarrely, now displayed again for a second time below the reCAPCHA graphic but this time without the reCAPCHA graphic
5) Repeat Step 2) and renter comment in the comments form that is now sitting below the first form.
6) Screen goes blank and I get: "Comment added! Refreshing page..." - . Note it does not navigate to my original home page which doesn't look good.
Despite the obvious failure to stop the Spammers I have couple of issues with this situation: 1) why is a 2nd copy of my home page displayed below the first and 2) It seems like two instances of item_comments_form.php are being used and I will need to include the reCAPCHA syntax in both which would be ridiculous
Any ideas anyone? I am willing to let others to test and can send the address via private email.

3) Submit
4) Error "The captcha wasn't entered correctly. "reCAPTCHA said: incorrect-captcha-sol" the home page is bizarrely, now displayed again for a second time below the reCAPCHA graphic but this time without the reCAPCHA graphic

Update 3:
I got reCaptcha working and have now posted a comment (to myself)...Yipee!
I had to modify /public_html/templates/rt_affinity_j15/html/com_k2/templates/default/item_comments_form.php
Now this begs a couple of questions that concern me
1) Why am I having to modify the k2 components under my chosen template and not centrally for all templates as in /public_html/components/com_k2/templates/default/item_comments_form.php. This explains why this form gets overlayed by the same form under the template
2) Does k2 have or have not support for reCAPTCHA i.e. do I need the joomlaez plugin after all?
Danel Westerdale said:Update 2:
I also put on a post the joomlaez.com forum to see if they had any insight.
They suggested that K2 already has support for reRECAPCHA so I would not need to install their plugin.....
Danel Westerdale said:To try and resolve this issue I have tried to isolate K2 1) disabled reCAPTCHA in the K2 Params 2) plugin still enabled and untouched
Added a contact form for Me in a dummy main menu link
/public_html/components/com_user/views/login/tmpl/default_login.php
and added the {captcha) syntax
......
Result ... there is not even a glimmer of the reCAPTCHA graphic.
I wonder in this case if I am not modifying the correct form bacause I changed the label text for the
"Remember Me" checkbox and refreshed and nothing changed.....
I also noticed that under my installed template I have
/public_html/templates/rt_affinity_j15/html/com_user/login so now I think this might be he login form I need
UPDATE: Yes it was the wrong login form and I can see my reCAPTCHA graphic.. the issue looks like the K2 / reCAPTCHA integration

Hi
To add recaptcha on contact form you will require to modify components/com_contact/views/contact/tmpl/default_form.php and for adding recaptcha on registration you will require to modify components/com_k2/templates/register.php (Note: if you are using k2 registration otherwise you will require to modify different file)
I will hope it will help other user to understand well.
