Hi all,

it's my first time using K2, I've been using joomla for a while now, but just upgraded to 1.7 so i thought I'd try K2. There's an old thread about the readmore not working, but I couldn't figure out the answer in the thread,

So I was hoping to get some help trough this way. I'm currently on Joomla 1.7 and the latest K2.

is there anything obvious I could have overlooked?

help will be greatly appreciated.

Also i'm not very knowledgable about this sort of stuff if it gets to coding, but I pick stuff up pretty quickly. And I don't mind messing with stuff but I won't don't know where to start.

I am currently on making my company’s WebSite (is in a demo stage at that time) and if you consider that "I don't have great knowledge in php" so far I have done it quite well. So i have some problem and i will appreciate if anyone can help me with this.....

K2 » Itemlist / Category" view

I have use K2 for all content and menus. My problem (i have attached a screenshot

) is at the "K2 » Itemlist / Category" view. I need to display only the categories images and category title and when a user clicks on the category image or title will go to category item listing page ....is there a way to make this without mess up my website???

Thank you William, but I realized the problem was caused not for K2, but for a bad configuration on the template I'm using.

Sometimes mootools needs to be disabled before running jupgrade.
After the upgrade sometimes you need to use phpmyadmin to set the access level on all the k2 items and categories to get them to show

First check the k2 items permissions and save it.
Also take a look at the published and date settings.

i haver a problem, when i edit any item, the publish date are there :




or, in my database, the date are correct. K2 dont look the publish date !

result : i dont publish any item !

I'm using this template:

Joomla 1.5.25, and originally K2 was version 2.3.
But after upgrade to K2 2.5.3 when I try to get into an article nothing is showed. I.e., after do click on a frontpage's article all I got it the menu+logo+search form field, and nothing else.

Resuming: I can't get into any article.

I have upgraded to 2.5.3 and the problem is still the same. It seems the URL to the place holder (which I assume is 32.jpg in media\k2\categories) is not formed correctly if there is no image present. But it's okay if there is an image,

It would appear that there is also an issue with the comments as well. Clicking the submit link does not refresh the comments, but the submissions are received. Since the user cannot tell that anything has happened, they submit the same comment repeatedly. This seems to be happening on all of my J1.5 sites that were upgraded to K2 2.5.x.

I didn't think my host provider would upgrade PHP for me as my sites are on shared linux servers but they were very helpful and migrated all my sites to another server with PHP 5.3.8 and it solved the problem. The migration was seamless and caused no problems. Ask your host provider and see what they say. My host provider is webhosting.uk.com

I just upgraded k2 component to the latest version on my site today.

After upgrading, I have a missing Facebook button on item view.

Also, I noticed that the background (in this case yellow) image gallery of the item is a bit out of position.

Basically, almost every item in that category is having the same problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem after upgrade K2 from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 on joomla 1.7.3. The same problem is on Joomla 1.7.3 with a new installiation og k2 2.5.3.

Experiencing a similar issue.
I did find that if I open & save (nothing else required) my K2 categories and items they will THEN show up in the listings. Probably something to do with J! 1.7's new ACL.

There is probably an easy db query that can be run instead of manually opening and saving all items and categories (my site has thousands). I'll post again once I find an easier method.

Good news is that at first glance, after using jUpgrade, my K2 category and item IDs appear to be the same.

Found the query, to make this quick.
In phpmyadmin run the following two queries. You will need to double check your new table prefix and adjust as necessary. Using jUpgrade the default is j17_

UPDATE j17_k2_categories SET access = '1' WHERE access = '0'
UPDATE j17_k2_items SET access = '1' WHERE access = '0'

Fresh install of Joomla 1.5.25.
I just installed k2.5.1, then upgraded to k2.5.2, then on to k2.5.3 and I have the same problem:

I cannot change administrator user to site owner or registered. When I click apply or save nothing happens. I end up having to click the back button of browser.

So because I cannot set admin to registered or site owner I cannot add content via front end.

Whats the solution?

I am running K2 on Joomla v1.5.23 and want to upgrade my K2. I followed the instructions and installed the new version 2.5.1 over my existing version 2.4.1 . Once I am done and it tells me my upgrade was a success I go tot he front end of my site and refresh the screen and.... Nothing... Nothing, it's just blank. Luckily I am testing this on my test website. What can I do to fix this problem?

Just an update,

I found this old post about it, I tried Jupgrade and cannot get it to fully work just starts to work and does nothing. Seems from what i am reading it does not work for all.

I have been having trrouble with k2 for three days.
Can anyone HELP me?

First the added items display the wrong author, then the Iframe modal pop up feature on frontend fails. Adding items is a full page interface.

So I upgrade, still no iframe and now I get a blank page when trying to edit front or backend.

I cannot trash or delete anything. It might be a java problem but by now I have no idea of what to do.

Is anyone here???

Seems like i have run into the unsolvable issue of sh404 not playing nicely with K2 attachments
This is on Joomla 1.5.24 / Latest sh404 and K2 2.4.1

[Dont tell me to upgrade - I cant yet as waiting for other components to be upgraded before I can use K2 2.5 :)

Hello guys,

i recently have upgraded my k2 component to my local system (http://localhost/joomlasite). Everything worked just fine so i just moved files (ftp) and database (export->import) to my online development site (www.bluetree.gr)

My local installation works just fine BUT i have a major problem to my online dev site. When i try to select one of the following:

administrator -> Components -> K2 -> User Groups
administrator -> Components -> K2 -> Extra Fields
administrator -> Components -> K2 -> Extra Field Groups

i received the corresponding errors:

I also tried to re-import the database to another online installation but the same problem occurs. Anybody has an idea?

Our embedded links stopped working properly after an attempted Joomla upgrade. Here is an example:

You see that extra "portable-vacuums"? It was never there before, but has suddenly started populated across the board on all K2 categories. Why is this happening? If someone could please give us some direction, that would be much help!
