What module are you using. I use mod_k2_content and set the order to most recent. It is working with mootools upgrade enabled in j 1.5.23. (see williamwhitejr.com - scroll to bottom left to see module working.)

I need to enable the mootools upgrade plugin for Kunena and when I do this my k2 latest news modules are buggy. Does anybody have any suggestions to get k2 working with the latest mootools libraries?

The test should be put in either item.php or category_item.php in the block that is displaying the extra fields, depending on which view you are using.

This should preferably be done inside a K2 override so as not to loose the changes on upgrade

I have tracked this down to whenever I attempt to save a K2 Item with a video using the Embed option of the Video tab, the component will not save, and I get a 404 Error with the following:

Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /administrator/index.php could not be found on this server.

If I use the Video Provider option, it works fine. Also if I use "{video}shortcode{/video}" within the Content tab, it will save and show the video appropriately.

I have a few pages that have already been saved with the Video Embed option, and I wanted to make changes to them. They will not allow me to save any changes, even if I remove the Video Embed.

I have recently upgraded the following Joomla Components with hopes to repair a bug or corrupt file somewhere. The error is still there, however. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Lefteris, the brand new installation has only a few menu links in order to bypass any of this.

It is a new install, loaded with K2 data and installed Zoo with imported K2 articles.

Catalog mode yes/no makes no difference.

Changing parameters in each category make no difference, disabling images makes no difference with the exception of a single category - competitions.

I am testing this with and without the joomla cache but typically it is always enabled.

I have disabled all plugins except base Joomla plugins as already described above - there is nothing else loaded other than Joomla out of the box, K2 and Zoo. Menu items are linked to the K2 categories and a mirror of the same for Zoo to be able to compare.

I appreciate your reply Lefteris, but this is the same few things I have been advised over and over again by both you and Fotis and none of the above make the slightest difference. I would accept it is my system IF I had not setup a totally fresh install and simply used the same content data but I am sure you will agree that by stripping the system down to basic components as I have there is nothing else that can interfere or conflict.

Could it be a remnant of an early version of K2 that is causing an issue? I have been using K2 since the very first releases and upgraded each time, I would ideally like to export all my data out and then do a brand new install of K2 and import this csv/xml data to try a totally clean import but K2 still does not this functionality.

I have changed all my categories to inherit parameters from the fast category on my main site and it is not faster but I really need to get to the bottom of the problem so this cannot happen again in future. BTW what do you mean by you have changed the way recursive looks in the next release? Which version are we talking here as I have been using 2.5 for a while now and have the latest version installed from yesterday.

Over the last few months I have mentioned a massive bottleneck on my K2 site, complained about it to Fotis who asked me to report back with a few things so he could help and consequently figured out on my site with a couple of thousand articles any logged in user gets around a 25-45 second lag from the initial page load to finally viewing the content which is clearly not good enough at all.

So having spent a considerable amount of time removing/adding/compressing, files, articles and settings etc across my Joomla site I have come across no other problem than K2 itself being at the heart of this, I have tried to update my bottleneck thread to catch the attantion of Fotis again but had no replies so here we go on another thread I guess will go largely ignored.

From the most basic level I have setup a subdomain, fresh install of Joomla, fresh install of K2 2.5SVN and added in the menu links - that is all, no other plugins or components for the initial test.

Empty cache, not logged in and a few seconds later up pops the page I request,

Empty cache, log in, 25-45 second lag.

There is nothing else here complicating the matter other than asking K2 to load a page on the standard J1.5 template shipped out of the box.

Initially I upgraded from 2.4.1 to SVN on the recommendation of Fotis who said it would cure the loading issue, it has not. I have taken my categories out of being nested on another recommendation that it would fix the issue, it has not. I have taken the categories from using other category settings on the recommendation it would fix the issue - it has not and finally I have enabled catalog mode - yes on each of these categories as I was recommeded this would fix the issue, bet you can't guess this though but it has not!

My site sees over 200,000 monthly visitors, it is under load all hours of every day and making changes like this to fix an issue that is still unfixed is not only really difficult but because the issue remains on a CLEAN Joomla and K2 install it appears there is a problem in K2 even after these changes have been made.

I appreciate that other sites may run just fine but after reporting this for months now I am at the end of my tether - especially as my reportings have been considerably detailed enough for someone who works on K2 to have an idea where the problem could stem from and yet I am left hanging after each time I post a thread up, the community cannot help here - this seems clear to me so I ask you, on a clean install of Joomla and K2 with thousands of articles loaded up what else is there left for me to attempt to change before one of you K2 guys accept there is a problem somewhere and help not only me but other community members in a similar situation?

hi

I am using joomla 1.5.22 and lask week I did the K2 v2.4.1, upgrade

Now the Cache will not clear so after a couple of days it had over 80,000 files in the 'page' folder

so everyday I must clear the cashe in the backend myself

any Ideas ??

I am in the process of customizing a Joomla K2 website code named Codeplay 1 where users post their articles for review by other users. By following a number of tutorials on this forum i have been able to customize my K2 Joomla website in the following ways.

Bellow is a list of what I need! Bellow that is a list of the things I have already managed to do by checking the documentation and forum.

This is what I need

1.)- I want K2 to monitor a users's submit history and to "upgrade" their account when they post a certain number of articles.

(My Guess)
Each time a user submits an article K2 adds +1 to a custom database column in the user's table and if the number in that table reaches a certain value it upgrades the user to a diffrent K2 group (database table)

2.)- 1.)- I want my site moderators to be able to "condemn" a user by clicking a button only viewable by them in the front end item layout. If a user is condemned a number of times they will be demoted.

(My Guess)
Each time a moderator clicks the condemn button on a specific article a script pulls the current article author's name and adds/subtracts -1 to a custom column let's call it "Reputation" in that user's table and if the number in that column reaches a certain value (ie -10) it moves the user to the lowest K2 group (database column). if a user is condemned AGAIN!!! after being demoted already and the value in the Reputation column becomes (-11) the user is de-registered from the site and a notification sent!

This is what I have Done so far.

- Add a "terms of use" check box to the front-end submission form that must be ticked before user can save a new or edited article(form.php Hack).

- Remove the option for the user to feature their own submitted article.

- Remove the option for the users to browse or upload to the server when they submit images or videos.

- Disable the inclusion of images and links in articles submitted from the front end (JCE Extention) The only way user can add images is by using the K2 image inclusion.

I get the following error for K2 on my website:

Also, following error:

The above errors is interfering with another module on my website (GTranslate).

I think it's a Java-related problem?

By the way, I can't resize text on my articles either. Looking at the code in the k2.js

file, I see there is some code to resize files as well.

Can somebody please tell me how to fix this?

Looking for a simple and straightforward solution in order to show icons next to the K2 Item/Article? Well, my take is a simple solution that after it's implemented solely relies on CSS when/if you find need to add more or new types of files.

1. Instead of hacking the original file: /components/com_k2/templates/default/item.php

I copied this to /templates/mytemplate/html/com_k2/templates/default/item.php and edited that one. This copy overrides the one in the original folder.

(You don't have to do this but it is a good idea to make future upgrades of K2 easier)

2. In addition I also moved a copy of K2.CSS into the /template/mytemplate/css/.. folder. (Again you don't have to do this but can edit the original files if you like. Just trying to help ;-)

Ok, here we go:

A. Edit /components/com_k2/templates/default/item.php (or your copy)

Find the following line at about line 300:

As you can see, we declare a string that we fill with the extension part of the filename by using the PHP function 'strstr()' . We then insert this extension string into the link by 'a class=""'.

Now we can make some nice CSS styling for each file extension and also easily add/remove these if/when we need to alter the icons for each type.

I've used the Silk Iconset but you can use any free icons or your own of course

B. The CSS

In K2.CSS at about line 240 add the class that you need for the file extensions. Here are a couple of examples:

Many PHP examples in regards of file extension testing are talking about the importance of testing file extensions on a mimetype basis, which are all valid discussions for those instances where you need to check validity of the file. For example when a user perform uploads. In our case these files are already entered into the K2 Attachment part of the item(article) and all necessary testing has already been performed, thus it is my opinion that you can keep this very simple.

Having problems with CSV files in K2 Attachments?

Well that is because K2 converts the file from 'mynicecsvfile.csv' --> 'mynicecsvfile.csv.txt'

It seems that after I upgraded to K2 v2.4.1, every time we post an article, the photos do not display on the front end or the back end. We can see that it is there on the server, when looking via FTP, but the all the images are show as missing in the browsers.

I just updated my dev server to the latest K2 SVN.

If I have sh404SEF enabled I get 500 server errors.

It worked fine with the SVN build from a week or two ago.

It is an old version of sh404SEF and I should probably upgrade.

Currently running version 1.0.20_Beta - build_237 of sh404SEF.

Can anyone confirm recent builds of sh404SEF work with recent SVN builds of K2?

Hi,

i am having a wierd problem. i have installed the k2 on one of our site and its working fine. the problem i got at a sudden. when i have to add the new article or edit article. before it was open in the lightbox(modal) but it stoppted working now.

we are using iis7 as server. so i check on the server and try to open these links and these are working fine and add an article page open up in a lightbox.

i dont know where is the issue. can any body guide me on that. i can upgrade to new version as i have made so many changes to core files.

I am requesting support for this issue.

When I upgraded to the latest version of K2, the component does not work properly.

When I attempt to update an item or category, I get the ! icon that states that the tool bar and main menu have been disabled. In this case, I am not able to access the tabs for image, image gallery video, extra fields, attachments.

Can someone please indicate how I can resolve this issue in the new version?

I´m using k2 for about half a year and I´ve realised that since that thereis no update available for it. I found K2 very helpful to my site but I my question is

is k2 so perfect (having in mind that it´s a new product) so it needs no updates/upgrades in this big period?
