This will be solved by updating K2. 2.5.4 is really, really outdated.
Update to Joomla! 2.5.28 backup your template and update to K2 2.7 or K2 2.7.1 DEV and then after you have updated EVERYTHING finally uou can upgrade to 3.5.x.

ALWAYS keep backups in case something goes wrong.

Hello, I have to work on an old Joomla 2.5 site with K2 Version 2.5.4 . The ultimate goal is to upgrade to J 3.5 as well as to update K2 to the final version, however in the meanwhile I have to face some problems. In particular, I have two User Groups in K2, the Group A has full permissions while in Group B the option "Edit any item" is disabled. In addition, I have assigned group permissions for the same categories for Group A and Group B, the difference is that users of Group A can edit every K2 item in that categories while the users of Group B can edit only the K2 items which they own (i.e. they are authors) in that categories.
For simplicity, I work with two users, user A belongs to group A while user B belongs to group B. Finally, both users are in the same Joomla Group named "Registered". The problem is that when the user A from Group A edit a K2 item which is owned by user B then automatically the "Author" of this item is changed to "user A" and then user B losses the permissions for editing and saving. I have to locate the item as administrator and change manually the author again to "user B" in order to user B regain access. This solution however is not permanent and of course not satisfactory.

I am sorry for not bringing up the version issue beforehand. I didnt even think of it as a possible factor as it seemed to work a while and suddenly stop working after using modal for editing.

Such a hassle to upgrade serverphp to 7 but oh joy im looking forward to testing new versions of both joomla and k2 :)

One question krikor, is there a lot of changes in category/item/category_item files in the new version? Or is it mainly backend changes that are made? I have edited most files in both component and module to fit our need perfectly.

I knew this, but didnt bother to upgrade since there are no security issues on the server I am working on. I will upgrade.

Recently discovered a category I thought had been trashed was still active - it was an earlier version of an existing category. I deleted it.

Now , when I add a new item to any category - it appears on its correct category page BUT also appears on the existing category I had two of.

The breadcrumbs on the existing category page shows a double ( category A >> category A )

I have upgraded the K2 component.
I have unpublished the items - shut down - restart - publish - still there.!

Anyone have a suggestion ?

I have recently upgraded to:

Joomla 3.5.1
K2 2.7.0

but cannot line up the k2 urls (used as a blog on our site) with the old site with the identical configuration. The url structure from the old site: www.********.com/parent-cagegory-alias/sub-cagetory-alias/item-alias.

Further info:
1/ the subcategories are all linked to main menu items
2/ I also use sh404sef on the site with all component including k2 configured to 'use default handler'
3/ I have turned on the advanced SEF in K2 and tried numerous combinations, but could not achieved the above outcome.

I would very much appreciate an advice on how the above URL structure could be achieved.

Well, it seems that I need to debug the whole routing and page building process, using internal Joomla debug tools or some 3rd party extension.

BTW, what the point of making K2 items accessible by alias? It doesn't provide any canonical url which is definitely bad for SEO purposes.

We have a continual problem with the K2 2.7 upgrade (on Joomla 3.5.1 sites).

On a raw installation of Joomla 3.5.1, EN-GB single-language, when we install K2 2.7 the Items and Categories we create don't appear. It works fine in K2 2.6.9, so we're having to use the old version for now.

I understand this is an issue with the Language Selector. I note this has been discussed elsewhere with the conclusion that it's 'resolved' by 1) Updating Mojishop (which we don't use - the only extension on our test site is K2 2.7), 2) Installing all Joomla EN language packs (which doesn't work for us) and 3) clearing cookies continually or using private browsing (which works, but it isn't a resolution - we can't pass it on to our customers).

It also makes no difference if we set the new Category/Item's language to 'English UK' or 'All'. When we select a language from the drop-down, it doesn't save on the refresh - it reverts to " - Select language - " (where the other drop-downs, such as Published etc, save as the selected status).

Does anyone have a resolution for the raw problem, or do we know if it's being addressed in the next version? For now, we are sticking to 2.6.9. Otherwise, 2.7 looks like a really nice update.

I am working on a new web site and I use K2. The clients want me to add image gallery in item and only functioning I know is Simple image gallery pro.

Before buying it I want to ask few questions if they are upgraded in the new version (in the old one I have used an year ago didn't work):

1. When I create an image gallery in K2 item, can I access the images from this gallery (ideally by using the Image button in/under the editor) and select to reuse some in the item text?

2. In the old version when I clicked on the SigPro plugin button under the editor it allowed me to choose images only from the Site Galleries and not from the K2 galleries neither from the Media Manager. Is this possible now, to choose images also from Media Manager, not only from the Site Galleries ?

The reason I ask is that somehow I thought I had read that additional categories was going to be part of a later iteration of version 3?

But, maybe I was just dreaming. Stranger things have happened before.

I sure would like to know the best third party solution to add Additional Categories since I needed them.

I just installed the version you linked to which is labeled at 2.7.1 and installed it and it seems to have fixed the problem. So, now I have an upgraded version and it works with Additional Categories.

We recently took on a site that uses K2 + Simple image Gallery Pro.

We recently upgraded Joomla to 3.5.1. K2 is up to date, and SIG is currently version 3.0.1.

When we try to create a Gallery, it asks for the folder name, confirms the folder doesn't exist - but then doesn't create it when you click "proceed".

Can create K2 galleries fine, and can upload images to existing galleries fine, file and folder permissions are double checked and fine.

EDIT: To add to this, I also can't select and delete galleries "alert saying "No rows selected!", and also I cannot click on any of the page numbers below. Definately seems to me the intereface is broken.

Same issue.
It started to happen when I upgraded Joomla from 3.4.8 into 3.5.1
I had Falang 2.2.2 installed.
I also upgraded Falang into 2.5.0 now, but problem still exists - k2 buttons doesn't work
Other joomla top buttons works OK.
K2 v2.6.9 (Developer Build)

I have another website with K2 v2.6.8 and Joomla 3.5.1
Just now I installed latest Falang 2.5.0 and it's K2 content elements (v2.5) and all works OK
- no errors when publishing or unpublishing k2 items or clicking top K2 buttons.

Unfortunately this is a precaution set by your hosting provider.
These are core files used by the library K2 uses for its media manager.

I am not sure that 'hacking' them will work since symlinks are blocked by default by your hosting provider.

Dear support team,

I have been using K2 on several websites and I am very happy with the component. However, now I am facing a problem after upgrade to 2.7.

The item links in the category list are also showing intro text of the item. Before the update it was only showing the title link. I tested it with the template protostar and beez as well, and also with these templates the links are showing up with intro text. It concerns the news page, in which 2 items are configured to show title, intro text and image in 2 columns. Then a few links should be showed. See www.svn69.nl
