K2 front-end editing options missing in Purity III template

Category: English K2 Community

Thank much man! You really went all out with the code.

After posting another reply at joomlart I decided to upgrade to joomla 3.5 then upgrade to k2 2.7 and the problem vanished!
I can see both edit and add item buttons just fine. What happened? (that's a rhetorical question.)

just remember one thing,
Since the UI has had a massive revamp, it is possible that your might load cached styles.
After you update the site, remember to clear your browser's cache.

Logged into the forum to see if I can get any info about this issue, since all my K2 websites use template overrides. This is excellent news, thank you Kelsey!

By the way, Krikor a thousand thanks to you & the whole K2 team for all your hard work! :)

Some templates use plugins or frameworks. It is possible that either a 3d party extension or some of the framework's content is not yet compatible with K2 2.7

K2 2.7 php 7 compatibility

Category: English K2 Community

Let me answer my own question, partly. K2 2.6.9 is fully compatible with php 7 (I just tested it, having also upgraded the test joomla to 3.5 RC4), so it seems, other than changing some functions that will become deprecated in FUTURE php versions, there is no other change in k2 2.7 to make it especially compatible with php 7.

Let me put your mind at ease. There is absolutely nothing of significance to be gained by "upgrading" to k2 2.7 . As it stands now, it is more of a downgrade than anything else. If you have any php knowledge you can check the files and compare them one by one to 2.6.9. and you'll then see for yourself. K2 2.7 is just one step towards stripping k2 of useful features (a process that will be complete with k2 v.3 ), so that they can provide these features later on through commercial plugins. That's fine by me, what is not fine is the fact that they release what they call an upgrade, without releasing the necessary commercial plugins as well.

sh404SEF integration

Category: English K2 Community

Historically in 'K2 Parameters - Advanced - sh404SEF integration' there are settings such as 'sh404SEF URL prefix for users', 'sh404SEF URL category prefix for items' and 'Use 'Title Alias' (instead of 'Title') for K2 URLs '. We use all three in conjunction with sh404SEF and we get our nice SEF urls.

The point which has not been clearly answered is this. In K2 v 2.7.0. these parameters have been decoupled, so will the historically nice SEF urls now lose their 'prefix for users' or 'Title alias' etc?

Weeblr have told me that they expect upcomng K2 plugins for sh404SEF by JoomlaWorks to resolve any changes. Upcoming commercial plugins are also announced by Fotis.

Logically, there is no problem, but I am also reluctant to upgrade to K2 V 2.7.0 at the moment, although I really really want to!

For some reason I can't respond to the thread I created so have had to create a new one to follow up.

Weeblr (the makers of sh404SEF) have been aware of the change to K2 for nearly six months now. sh404SEF already works without dedicated settings in K2.

I've just had a look at the site that I've upgraded and all URLs continue to work as before, even those modified in sh404SEF.

K2.7 Upgrade - Good Result

Category: English K2 Community

Hi all,

Just wanted to report that a 'surprise' upgrade to 2.7 on the site that I wouldn't have chosen as my test platform for upgrading went perfectly.

I use Watchful.li to manage backups and upgrades across all my client sites. I must have hit the 'upgrade all' option just as 2.7 dropped as just one of my many sites with K2 upgraded - and it's the most complicated, most tricky setup with an absolute ton of K2 template overrides and custom code.

Not a single problem - This happened on Friday - I didn't even notice until this morning.

No problems, no errors - all working smoothly. Couldn't be happier.

Nicely done Joomlaworks, great job.

Registration not working

Category: English K2 Community

Hi!

I can't register a new user. After completing a registration form, it says 404 error - component not found.
www.radiojapan.ru/registration

I moved my site to another hosting service and upgraded K2 version at the same time so I'm not sure what's the cause.
I also noted that registration form uses com_users component while 404 error URL contains com_user instead.

Help? :)

2.6.9 is the version before 2.7, 2.6.0 is really really old (I do believe it was a typo though).

Are you using any 3rd party extensions? Have you asked the template's developer about any plugins that might intervene with K2?

Also the detailed announcement about K2 is located here: getk2.org/blog/2549-k2-v270-released

I don't know because it's the first time I use K2.
I found it in a professional template but I can't even downgrade the version : (
There is a problem with a table's column when I try to downgrade to the 2.6.0
Is there a log of K2 that I can view?

Category: English K2 Community

Hi to all,
today I've updated the version of K2 to the version 2.7.0.
Now when I try to edit the item, change the image (in the image tab) and then press save, I obtain the image in the link:
imgur.com/EnvyYAs
and nothing more
And now I'm completely blocked......any suggestions?
Thank you very much
