Timothy,

A content plugin which also runs on K2 items is the best solution in my opinion.

You can do a str_replace or a regex to wrap the text in the necessary markup in a tag like:
{tooltip}Example tooltip{/tooltip}.

Once you do this you can pretty much create modals, tooltips, accordions etc..

I am confident that there might be some plugin at the JED which have this functionality.

As I already told you, the column settings apply to the categories only.
Since you have overriden your tag layout, you can manually add grid classes.
K2 Store is using Bootstrap (I think) so you can use its classes without having to write any CSS code.

Then i really dont understand why you can select a template when making the K2 Tag-item menu-item, if it isnt used anyway.

But it seems the whole Tag-item idea isnt of any use then to me, i prefer to have a similar appearance of items on my website. I use K2 with K2Store and have lots of products displayed in rows with each 3 columns. If i cant get the Tag results show in the same way then i will look for another solution.

Thanks for your reply, but i already did read that post and i do know how to make a Tag-menu item and assign a template to it.

But ......

If i make a menuitem for a certain K2-Tag, then choose a custome template from the dropdownlist for it, it still isnt used in the front end.

I want the Tag display to be the same as the Category display ...... but no matter what template i choose it keeps showing the one column display in the frontend.

Now to manually assign a new template to a specific tag you need to create a menu item for it. Tags will render by default with the template that currently in use.

As for you second question, once you set up a new K2 template you can assign it from your menu item.

Could someone give me a price quote on the creation of list like this - with a quick load time:

I have tried myself but the list uses up to 15 seconds to load and i am therefore quite sure I'm doing something wrong:

 Shows the above used "Extra Fields"
 Loads as fast as any other page
 Honors if a ITEM has set that the title should not be linking
 Follows the attached layout

Hello,

I made K2 Tools modules, one with Search and one with a Tag view.
Both result in a view that is one column and a (long) list of items.

I did read somewhere that i need to make a template override. The good thing is that my template already has overrides ... also the one i want to use for the K2 Tools results.

My first question is ..... where can i set the template i want to use, there is no select option in K2 Tools as far as i can see.

My second question is this .....

I made a menuitem that should show K2 items based on a Tag. This works but also doesnt show them in the template i want and that i selected there in the menu-settings. It keeps showing the items in one long list here also.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you use word limit, then all HTML tags will be stripped.
You should probably use K2's images (upload them through the image tab) and not insert them in the editor manually.
Another approach would be manually specifying an introtext for each item.

The K2 content module does not sort items by tags, so you cannot use that module.
I would suggest you look for an extension at the JED or getk2.org/extend .

Sure,

Open K2's extrafield view.
You will notice that almost all these fields refer to the schedule.

What you need to do is to copy exactly (and I mean exactly) a full set.

eg:

22:00 - 00:00
Alias: Header_m
Time
Alias: time_m
Avatar
Alias: avatar_l
Title
Alias: title_l
Tagline
Alias: sc_tagline_m
Cover Image
Alias: coverImage_m
Dj
Alias: dj_m

Be careful to use the same patter in aliases. Eg: the next in line should have an alias of Header_n .
This way you can create an hourly schedule.

Finally, you do not need to edit any code in K2's files this pattern takes care of that.

I'm reorganizing an art catalog in K2 with category views in catalog mode; and would like to use tags instead of subcategories to sort the items into columns.

Right now I'm looking at using many instances of sets of the same sub-categories, under each category. Seems a little cumbersome.

Know anything that exists already or have any ideas?

I don't understand the distinction between $this-> item and $item. Isn't item a variable or method of $this, the current object? We are drilling into the database, so that the drill down proceeds from $this, the current object; which changes depending on what it is wrapped in?. Nevertheless, it would seem to me that if the code works in item.php, it should work in category_item.php as the file is not a wrapper. I have separated the titleRowTwo part from the title to simplify the code so that I can eliminate anything extraneous. As soon as I get titleRowTwo to display I will nest it back into catItemTitle.

Again the problem is viewable at: Behind the Smoke Curtain:

Only "title" is displaying and not both "title" and "titleRowTwo"

Hello,

I ended up getting one of our developers to help with this who helped reinstall just the K2 tools module files.

After much scrolling through the files, he was able to compare the two .xml files which were in the K2 tools module folder. Turned out the one being read was incorrect, it had 'param' tags instead of 'field' tags. He renamed the correct .xml file version so this could be picked up by the site, and the other one would be ignored

This feature is now working perfectly and is fab, so thanks K2 but perhaps check out why there was the dodgy file in there in the first place?

I hope this helps further readers.

The k2 tools module that I have installed on my Joomla 3.3.0 website is not working. All the other parts of the K2 package seem to work just fine but this one. I need this as I would like to use the calendar and tag cloud functionality especially. I assume there may be something wrong with the install of these files but don't know how to fix it.

When I go to create a new k2 tools module, I do not get the right interface like i have seen described on tutorials, just the basic description of what the module does.

Sorry for the late reply. And thanks for all the help.

I can't seem to find where to put the code? The word "array" is nowhere in my category.php-file?

I have made my own version - but the page loads very slow compared to the rest of the site. And the list does not honor when i set the titles not to link in the backend.

What am i doing wrong?

  Instalé K2 hace unos dias, migré todo el contenido de mi sitio, en un primer momento todo iba bien hasta que las imagenes dejaron de mostrarse, se que estan ahi porque si ingreso a editar los items las veo, pero no se muestran ni en los modulos, ni en los tags, ni en el item en particular.

Hi,

I did get a response from the Template Developer:

If you are using K2 and getting this problem plz go to following directory template > roksmart_template > html and remove com_k2 directory your K2 theme will go to default K2 theme. then also getting same error then its K2 problem. thank you

I removed the com_k2 directory and it fixed the problem. Now I'm able to disable tags.

Hello everybody,

I was looking to display the author of an item in the "latest items", and although the thread is about "tag listings" it helped me solve my problem.

I am posting my solution in the hopes that it will help other people.

Step 1.
Create an override to the file you are editing. (In my case latest_items.php)

Step 2
Set the variable $user (per the example of the previous posters).

<?php $user = JUser::getInstance($this->item->created_by); ?>

Note that the "echo" in this line has been stripped. This is what is causing the "JUser" to appear in the case of the above given solutions.

Step 3
Proceed to creating the link

<a href="<?php echo $link = K2HelperRoute::getUserRoute($user->id) ?>"><?php echo JUser::getInstance($this->item->created_by)->name; ?></a>

And it should work.

Please note:
I had to add "$this" infront of "item->created_by" for the file latest_items.php
This thread refers to tag listings and I have not tested this solution for that specific case.
Reading through this thread it is my understanding that "$this" should be omitted.
Feel free to add it if stuff does not work out for you.
