Accessing image property of K2 item

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I'm developing a module that displays a specific number of k2 items based on its category id. I can get those item but I'm not able to access the image on it. When I try $item->image returns the following error:
Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$image

Here is the object I get from my sql query:

Control of tag creation? was created by Kent Myers

Control of tag creation?

Category: English K2 Community

Hello - is there a way in K2 to have more control over how tags are created and used? We find that tags get out of control if all of our authors can create them. For example, we'll have a tag called "seat belts", but another author might create "seatbelts" or "seat belt" or something similar. We end up with hundreds of tags when we really only need a couple dozen.

I'd like only our editor to be able to create tags, and each of our authors to be able to select from a list of pre-approved tags.

Can this be done?

Thanks,
Kent

[SOLVED] Not possible to edit K2 items in the front-end

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

When I click on the editor button, a new form is showed (see attachment).

For instance, I'm not able to remove or add a tag. I can put some new text in the editor.

But it is not possible to save anything. Nothing happens when I push on the save button or on the close button. It's dead.

I'm logged in as Super Administror (Joomla) with K2 rights Super User. Anything is enabled in the Frond end editing tab.

regards,

I too would really like to see this as a regular function of search modules. You would think after adding metatag info to categories that this would be next on the list.

[SOLVED] Common search/tag results page for all categories?

Category: English K2 Community

I am doing this to have control over the modules and header text that is displayed. Currently, if i am on a non k2 page, and i search, the resulting page will display "Search Results for: xxx". This makes sense for the user. If i am on a k2 page and i search, the original headers display. If i am searching for "dogs" from a "cat" page, and the search results fall under "cat", it is confusing for the user. Plus, i want to have control over the modules displayed.

I have changed my menu item, #123, to display a k2 item by default. I updated the code below (note the bold), and cannot figure it out:

<?php
/**

If you wish to use the live search option, it's important that you maintain the same class names for wrapping elements, e.g. the wrapping div and form.

You can also use a tag for this. In any case K2 has a lot of options for hiding/showing elements. Even if you don't find what you need in an option you can always do it with a template override. To get more help regarding K2 you can visit K2 community at getk2.org/community

I don't know why you want to do this, but if you insist the menu item must be pointing to K2 not to other extension.

[SOLVED] Common search/tag results page for all categories?

Category: English K2 Community

I am trying to redirect the search results to a new page, as opposed to inheriting the original page.

I created a new menu item, and copied the ID number. Does this menu item have to be something specific?

I then copied the \modules\mod_k2_tools\tmpl\search.php to create an override.

I am having trouble with these 2 instructions you provided:
  • You can do this by changing the jRoute:: parameters and adding a &Itemid=THE_ID at the end.

  • Then add <input type="hidden" name="Itemid" value="THE_ID" /> to the set of the hidden inputs. (Inside the SEF php check).

I have tried various configurations, and nothing has resulted in listing the search results on the menu item i specify.

K2 seems to provide the correct tags. However it looks like Facebook cannot read the page. Try to disable GZIP compression as suggested at stackoverflow.com/a/20197599 .

Removing all tags

The most simple solution is to use the backend. Otherwise using a tool like phpMyAdmin you can just truncate tables #__k2_tags and #__k2_tags_xref.

Can you expand on this, i have tried a few things and it is not working. I believe the lines of code you are changing are:

<form action="<?php echo $action; ?>" method="get" autocomplete="off" class="k2SearchBlockForm">

and

<input type="hidden" name="categories" value="<?php echo $categoryFilter; ?>" />
<?php if(!$app->getCfg('sef')): ?>
<input type="hidden" name="option" value="com_k2" />
<input type="hidden" name="view" value="itemlist" />

Since you are the owner ( and developer ? ) of the site you are supposed to know better than me. The extra tags are not coming from K2 for sure. Try to disable some plugins until you find the one that is doing this. It might also coming from your template.

So it looks like you are on a hurry... This is an open source project. The first thing you are required to know when you use an open source project is how such projects work. For the generated links you need to give me a link that proves that K2 generated them. For other things let's wait a bit more. Maybe a more productive member of this forum is more productive and give you a better answer. Or maybe not.

This has nothing to do with your template. You install it as you install normal K2 releases. The same way you install any other Joomla! extension. Just use the extension manager and upload the package. Don't uninstall K2 first.

Hi. You have some extra open graph tags in your page. K2 is generating the correct ones but in your page there are some extra ( actually they are duplicates making things even worse). K2 is not related with that. It's up to you to find where the extra incorrect tags are coming from.

Category: English K2 Community

When I say real visible links, I mean links that are made by menu system or K2 auto generated ones that make sense such as www.domain.com/tag/tagname
But crazy k2 generated links like www.domain.com/menu/submenu/tag/submenu/subsubmenu OR www.domain.com/k2item/itemlist/tag/anythingBUTtagname is what my problem is. And dont worry about the 500s. I have been waiting for your reply for 4 days and I have been expecting to get a bit more productive comment from you than your last reply. I am hopping you can shed some light on the subject. What else could it be if it is not css hide links?

Thanks
