i want to add ads(starts with <script> tag) in k2 item.Adverts will be mixing with item texts.Problem is that k2 article not taking code starting with script tag like "<script>ad code</script>" !! plz help and suggest alternatives.

Efectivamente al parecer hay una incompatibilidad entre la última versión de Joomla! y la última versión de K2 en este tema en lo particular. A la espera que el tema sea solucionado y tengamos una nueva versión estable de K2 que solucione el problema, puedes darle una solución temporal, pero ojo, que esta solución temporal requiere que te metas a la Base de Datos. Si te sientes cómodo trabajando con la base de datos, entonces no hay problema y te explico de inmediato como hacerlo.

Debes ingresar a tu base de datos y editar la tabla _menu. Una vez dentro de la tabla _menu, debes buscar el Ítem de Menú que creaste para la etiqueta, una vez localizado debes abrirlo para que puedas editarlo.

Una vez dentro, verás que en la Columna "Link" tienes el valor: "index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=tag&task=tag", lo único que debes hacer es agregar el nombre de tu etiqueta a esa dirección, agregando "&tag=tu_etiqueta", con eso la URL completa te quedaría:
index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=tag&task=tag&tag=tu_etiqueta

Guardas los cambios, recargas tu sitio y verás que el ítem de menú está funcionando perfectamente bien y ligado a la etiqueta que deseas.

The fix will be included in the next release as well of course.

I ran in to this too. Here is a temporary fix. Go ahead and create your menu item without the tag option selected.

Then go to your database by way of cpanel phpmyadmin and look for your joomladatabaseprefix_menu

Locate your new menu item and edit the link column for that menu item

My tag for my menu item is "education" See the example link below:

index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=tag&tag=education&task=tag

thanks for the reply.

This is the method I'm currently using, but this way I can't display tags categories sorted by groups with their own labels in item view like: "Places: NY", "People: "Obama, Letterman", etc.

A possible solution, though very imperfect, would be putting k2 tags normally in item creation for "topics" and create in advance for each "place" or "person" a specific tag in K2 tags management.
Then I can use "text area" Extrafields "Places" and "People" to enter for example "Obama" and linking the word to its K2 tag menu item using the editor.

But I think it's a too complicated way to site editors, so I'm looking for a better and easier one.

What if you put the specific words as tags for these items and then create a menu item with type K2 Tag for each tag. Then the menu would bring the items tagged with each word so it would be like actually categorizing them.

Is there a way to categorize Tags?

I need to "categorize" each "news" k2 item by places, people involved, subjects.

Then I need to create specific menu items to display places list, people list, topics list so the url must be like "mydomain/places".

I also need single listing by tag pages url being like "mydomain/people/obama".

I tried to use searchable extrafields, but I can't create a menu item to avoid reaching the "search" view and the related url.

I also tried to sue Additional Categories for K2, but i can't create modules displaying item secondary categories sorted by places, people, etc. in item view (I use K2 BNR Content to display item tags in a module position) like in the above example.

I need something that will search through my selected K2 categories, including extrafields and tags, and sort the results by relevance. I feel like this should be fairly straight forward, but I am unable to find a solution/extension with these capabilities anywhere!

K2 extensions work, but don't sort by relevance, and Joomla Smart Search works, but doesnt search extrafields or tags.

Anyone have any direction?

Actually, it's not so difficult. If you happen to use a custom template, you can do it in a template override. Here is a short description (for K2's registration form, tested in Joomla 2.5.9):

Step 1:
In your custom template folder, create a sub-folder hierarchy named html/com_k2. E.g. If your curstom template is in templates/bos/, then the new folders path is templates/bos/html/com_k2

Step 2:
Copy K2's original registration form from components/com_k2/templates/register.php to the previously created folder. E.g: in the example above, that would be templates/bos/html/com_k2/register.php

Step 3:
Edit the copied file and find the single line that contains the closing table tag:

Remarks:
In the code snippet above, there's a translation key TPL_BOS_PLAYTHRU_CAPTCHA_LABEL which represents the descriptive text left of the playthru captcha. In order to show desired text, you must create a file named language/overrides/en-GB.override.ini and put the following line into it:
TPL_BOS_PLAYTHRU_CAPTCHA_LABEL="Whatever text you like"


The code snippet is not specific to the playthru capcha. In fact, it simply uses whatever captcha plugin is configured globally in the backend.

In order to enable it, you have to disable K2's recaptcha option in the backend.

first i was not amused bout k2 using only 1 category each article. Thinking bout Menus having more Categorys, but a klick bring you to 1menu-1catgory solves problem duplicated content.

As said, on tags, profiles i set other preferences. google give tips, no orders. at least its all about "what needs users".

You can use a different K2 Template for your front page and remove the tags loops. That way even if you enable the tags the output will never render.

my solution: I map every category to ist own menu > no duplicate url. But tags, profiles i use no menus, cause ist importent for users to stay in navigation; my point of view. so i live with duplicated url, check google webmaster for 404-crawls, ...
