Hi Everyone, I am sorry for the terrible "Help me" first post in a forum but I am getting to the end of my rope.
I'll post a TLDR at the bottom.

Background: My website is to promote Bento lunches and basically shares recipes, tips, packing suggestions and i'd like to eventually get a shop up and running to sell the products I use. My posts are usually based around an image on the prepared bento/meal/recipe, so ALL posts have an image. I installed K2 so I could add tags into my posts so they would be easy to search and also tie in together. I have collaborated an old blog I used into this new format as well, so i've had the fun task of going through and re-tagging everything.

Front page displays all the latest posts, from updates, recipes, lunches, meals etc. Everything shown in a typical 'Blog' format. On my left menu I have some scrollers with images that are clickable and link back to the items. A handy module I picked up. I have 2 scrollers, one for 'Lunches' and one for 'Meals'.

My Problem: I need to somehow display all my posts segregated so users can easily access them. I have a top menu link for each of them. When they click on one section i would like ALL my posts with images shown in an abbreviated form. Image, title and maybe tags. Pagination is a must.

I just need a 'grid' like display of my items with basic information. Image with optional title, tags, introduction text. Found a heap of modules/extensions for fancyfull scrolling, latest news etc. but none have pagination. I want this to be similar to a store, where the image is the focal point, but has to lead back to the item with full post.

What have I done: So before I get eyes rolling and people telling me to search or to try basic things these are the many different things I have done. (I have been on and off this for 3 weeks now).
I have made a category and changed settings around like a crazy woman. I will post screen shots of one I was SURE would work but looks like dogs breakfast.

Suggestions: I have thought of forgetting this category listing crap and trying to source an image gallery that will post back to the items. Is there one that exisits? Shows an image and title (maybe tags?) in a grid, then links to items as needed?

TLDR:
I just want a listing of everyhting in one category with an image, title and tags. I just don't understand what I am doing wrong. :(

The main difference i see in image handeling is that with k2 you can select a different size image for the category and item view. with the j articles you must use images that are sized correctly before uploading. Both ways have advantages and disadvantages

I found the sollution it was bug made in K2 model

I've changed the line 168 in file: components/com_k2/models/itemlist.php

 Really have you ever used K2 before? If you do not know how a component work this doesn't mean it's awful. In any way, since you think it's awful you are gonna uninstall it, so i guess you do not need any further help.

Hey has the duplicate url issue discussed in the fist post (7 months ago) been resolved, because if it hasn't why is Admin telling us to get sh404sef ?

I have been building my site for months now using K2 and today - when I almost finished - to my surprise I realized that K2 has been building a lot of duplicated URLs. The guys over at anything-digital said that it's a K2 issue and not a sh404SEF issue, which is cleary true.

First the damn tags are producing a duplicated URL every time an article has been posted with already an existend tag. This describes it pretty well.

This issue is not new to K2, related threads has been posted in the past with not so useful solutions.


It seems to me sh404sef developers blame k2, who blame Joomla in the meantime nothing changes, it seems the ball is squarely in k2's court, why not get together with anythingdigital to make & sell a plugin that works gets rid of this duplicate content problem once & for all instead of passing the buck.. The way i see it it's in every bodies best interest to get this sorted.

Usually it is, there is a k2 information page which shows the status of it and other things, it should be on

And ANOTHER Problem!!!
I make new category...
Add article same as previous article in other category.
And make K2Plugins Enabled at options in category, article and global parameters....
Now when I open an this article K2Splitter DOESN'T WORK !!!

I try to make copy of category where its work. And test it... But problem still....
Oh.... What a awful K2 component!!! ........... :(

I have delete something categories. Now I want to recover them.
But I can't!
I don't see checkboxes opposite to categories!

Where this settings? Where word limit?
P.S. I dont modified original code. Picture #3 - K2 Plugins is off. Picture #1 - K2 Plugins is on.

Look - this is my "item.php" file where K2Splitter calls.

I have the same error too on one of my clients websites:

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/24


We use the newest version of Simple Image Gallery Pro:: v2.5.8
and Joomla! :: v2.5.6

Hopefully there is a way to fix this..?!

Hi. Have you modified any K2 code? You should not get "K2Splitter" on your screen. K2 only splits HTML tags when word limit is applied. So check again your settings.

Hi. Tag cloud is computed based on the number of items tagged by the tag word. This how all tag clouds work....

Hello!
I try to set bold html tag for text at article, create the list tag etc. but K2Splitter cuts html tags! When K2Plugins is off - all normally but view awful. With K2plugins on all beautiful but no html tags in text...
What I need do to enable html tags when K2Plugins is on???

Hmm... I think that problem in php exlode function at file "com_k2\models\item.php" at 664 line

 Hi. There is no such option for tag listings. All the tag listings settings are located under the K2 parameters. You can however make a template override and use the following code:

Hello,

I can not find where I can limit word count on K2 Tags pages?!

Now when I click on Tag , it reproduces full texts (duplicate texts) and add "read more"...

I did find how to limit for Category view , but I can not find where to limit for Tag view...

Hi Guys,

I am working on joomla not much experienced just new, i am using K2 community,
my joomla version is 1.5.17, i am using the basic search and sef module provided by the joomla,
i am trying to get sef URLs, i activated, sef, mod_rewrite.

all pages seems to work fine but when i initiate search it goes in to that page which is unidentified, it seems that the default template is assigned to that page, images urls seems to be broken, we can only see the "Search" in the title which is correct as we see this title even when sef is not active.

i Would like to clarify more, the pages that are created as k2 items are working but search is a page which is default of Joomla, also there isn't any particular item or page for the page which displays the result of the search. i found that these result page is generated via file at runtime.

after iniatiting search the url looks like this
note : its an example of url, not the actual one
www.example.com/component/search/?searchword=abcdef&ordering=&searchphrase=all

as i have seen or tried to diagnose from my side, joomla automatically assigns the component name to base href tag after setting the sef from global.
if i see in source code of this page
base href has value "www.example.com/component/search/"
like this it does to other page to, but search is the page which is created on runtime,
also Itemid is doesnt reflects in url, i have other search modules too, i am going to implement different logic also differentiating them via Itemid, but after activating the sef Itemid isn't there in Url.

i need to implement the sef and mod rewrite url, along with the proper functioning of search on site.
Also there must not be problem with rewritebas
/www.example.com/web/content/components/com_search
there are 2-3 sites starting from "/" which are in their respective folder
more which individually have their own .htaccess files

Is there anything i can do from file, or some particular setting.
Please suggest havn't found any satisfactory solution for this yet.
also attaching the .htaccess file which i am using currently,
please note there are several edits done from my side too for trial and error.

if you find and solution, please guide

There´s an extension but is expensive (well depends...). It´s quite complete
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-a-navigation/site-navigation/12148
you can modify the structure of the breadcrumbs and include -for example- menu items and not categories.

I had a similar problem, but in this case I resolved to remove the links from breadcrumbs and depend only on main navigation.

To remove the links to the categories (i left the <a> tag just to looks like a link but it doesn´t work)

On the
modules/mod_k2_tools/helper.php (this file controls all the functions of the K2 Tools)

just remove the whole href attribute and left the <a> For my purposes it works.
However this modify a whole function that it´s used by other options of K2 Tools... maybe it should be better to duplicate the code and define another array to use with breadcrumbs.php

Any way here you can modify the <a> link. If you know how to handle it, you can include the link you want.
