no no i mean into the sub template ovverides i do very well to stay away from the core of k2 be it components, modules and plugins...and yes sir iam using the latest k2 - and bot k2 tools search and joomla core search...the joomla core search works well it picks up both tag + content words during search (k2 search plugin for extending core funtionality) but the k2 tools search is not working properly it is picking up content words but not tags ... i have just enabled system debug thanks

Yes, this would be a very welcome feature...

One can set smaller sizes for display, but the popup can still overstretch the image...one can set XL image size to reflect a "safe" size, but this is far from optimal and functional...

This feature request has been repeated a few times, e.g.
code.google.com/p/getk2/issues/detail?id=221
getk2.org/community/New-to-K2-Ask-here-first/2087-Request-Add-Options-for-Image-Handling--Item-View

For me this is one of the things that has kept me with Joomla, despite strong attempts to adopt K2 (has some very useful/welcome features)
- Image-size variables in K2 (at least prevent oversizing)
- Inabiblity to use punctuation marks in tags
- Pagebreak doesn't work
- An easy way to clean created item images

[Solved] Flickr works here but not there

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

As seen in the first screen shot, the flickr set is working.  Therefore, i know the API key is correct.

In the second screenshot, I am getting the "There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder:"  Error message on this page:  50.116.122.123/~drjill/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=68:dogapalooza#.UAXH-zGcGRb

I have already used AdminTools to fix permissions.

Using sigpro 2.5.6 / k2.5.7  / j2.5.6

I can't figure out what the difference is.

Hi Lefteris,

The logic in the tag cloud dialog is that you ARE restricting the tags to the category, otherwise why do you select categories (plural if wanted)??

I think this is a bit of code that you havent just written yet. All that is needed as you say is a restriction of the tags to those items in the categories selected in the tag cloud box.

Without the restriction there is only a very limited use for tags on a big site. I will play and see if I can get a workaround but I would suggest that the tag cloud does restrict the query to the categories selected.

Regarding the layout, this would all be explained in the documentation wouldnt it? The obvious answer would be for the K2 module to allow layout definition as if it was a metacategory or metaset, which it is.

thanks again for an excellent extension though.

[problème] Affichage Media et Galerie Image K2

Category: Communauté française K2

Bonjour,

Could it simply be that you don't have that particular word or set of words in your main article?

As far as I know, the search function does not search for meta-data or K2 tags....it searches for text...

By the way, I believe it may be bad practice, from a SEO perspective, to have tags/metakeywords that are not included in you main text as well...

Tags offer a way to dynamically interconnect between various items, to construct groups of items that go beyond set categories...
But Tags are also no replacements for meta-keywords or main article text...

Hi. Regarding your issues:

1. Unfortunatelly this is not supported by K2. A K2 tag page will fetch all the items that are tagged with this tag. You can however try to make menu links to the tags with category restriction. I guess that K2 will find the menu link and your links from the module will restrict categories. I am not sure about this, it's just an idea.

2. You need to override the tag.php layout. Tags that have menu links can use different templates.

Facebook needs some specific tags which are not included by K2. You should try searching for a plugin doing this.

K2 tools - tag cloud

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I am a strong user of K2 but sometimes get frustrated by the lack of good documentation. I do understand that a lot of effort is needed but the extension is so excellent that it is a real shame it suffers by the lack of a well written documentation pdf or whatever.
This introduction is important as I suspect that it is my lack of knowledge rather than a bug.
I have created a copy of the K2 tools module and specified it as a tag cloud. the cloud is then limited to one category of items. I display the module on the blog page for the category and all works well, except for two tiny but annoying problems:

1. I assumed that when I click on a tag it would only pull out items from that category, when in fact it pulls out all items from all categories with that tag.
2. I cannot find any way of customising the layout of the resultant tagged items that are displayed, either in its own blog layout or when individual items are selected.

Any help appreciated.

Again these are only minor niggles as it is a stunning extension.

SIG PRO & K2 Gallery problem

I have downloaded again the plugin an instal it again.

If i left the folder images in the root field i have this on my page gallery (frontend) :
Folder::files : le chemin n'est pas un répertoire. Chemin : /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/AEFE ASIE PACIFIQUE V3/images/3
There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: images/3

Then I put again the right folder in the root field and i have a blank page.

There was a problem rendering your image gallery...

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

Hi
I'm using Simple Image Gallery Pro' Plugin v2.5.7 with K2.
The system was running fine until something happened and no longer displays the image gallery, and a message appears at the top that says:

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/xx (the number of images galleries)

I've seen other people have asked already, but the answers are on permissions issues and route.

I have all the permissions to 777, and I have a temp folder on 777 too. The route is o.k in the plugin configuration and in FTP and photos are up. Zip files contain images and no folders.

Any other ideas? What could have happened? I need help.:!

Yeah I was also looking for a Related Articles extension with more options...

There is one for Joomla content, wish the developer could make it work with K2...one of the things keeping me from using K2 in all my sites...
This module has so many options, it will blow your mind...

Hi. I am not sure why you still cannot change that. Anyway, the menu is rendered by Joomla! not K2. You need to override the Joomla! core menu module and place the tag you wish.

Please allow punctuation marks in Tags

Category: English K2 Community

Currently K2 does not allow punctuation marks to be used in the tags...Now, is that important? I would say that depending of the type of website that one uses then it can be a real problem...
let me describe it with a couple of examples..

Punctuation marks could be needed for example
- If the words/names require their usage, e.g. for a news site, one would need to use "Jean-Claude Trichet"
- In order to differentiate between terms that refer to different things but spell the same, e.g. initials that correspond to different institutions, groups etc, so that the use of punctuation marks allow their differentiation...e.g. in Greek the initials ELAS (ΕΛΑΣ) may refer to a) the greek police force (ΕΛ.ΑΣ) or the greek popular liberation army (Ε.Λ.Α.Σ), from the mid-20th century...

Lack of differentiation here, therefore unlikely groupings of articles in tag listing hinder the reading experience of website visitors who might be looking for specific things to read.

I have asked this before and the technical answer that I got was

Joomla! JRouter class replaces the first hyphen with a colon character assuming that the first part is the id variable. Because K2 is built in such a way that it does not use tag ID in the URLs this leads to converting the first hyphen of the tag to the colon character. That's why we strip the hyphen character and that's why currently there is no way for using hyphens into tags.

I understand there are limitations at the moment, but these are not absolute...to be more precise, I have also tested ZOO and it allows punctuation marks in the tags without using IDs in the URL...
So it certainly is possible, although I honestly don't know how hard...but there is a ready-made solution that could be adopted or advised to solve whatever issue and offer this functionality...

K2 Team, will you please look into it again?

I am so disappointed by the tag extensions out there available for Joomla 2.5...this would be very welcome and I do prefer K2 very much over Zoo in most respects...
