Preferred Template Installation Path

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

As I am very new with Joomla and K2 I am currently trying to implement my own custom templates for various K2 category listings as well as single items. For reference please note that I use Joomla 2.5 and the latest version of K2 2.5.7

Reading through various online articles and sporadic documentation it appears that there are two choices with regards to the preferred installation path.

One approach seems to be leaving the default template as well as other custom templates under /components/com_k2/templates.

However there are also several references including one from this official site (getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/item/174-templating-with-k2-and-the-concepts-of-sub-templates) that recommend replicating the K2 template folder structure under /templates/[SiteTemplate]/html/com_k2.

Furthermore and having actually tried both approaches they both do seem to work as I can see the selection for my custom templates under the category administration

Considering all of the above, can someone shed any more light as to which one is a preferred approach and whether there are any advantages or disadvantages with each one?

iframes to extra fields

Category: English K2 Community

Hi!
I try to embedd that code...
<iframe src="rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=itstescom-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B004M8RPBI&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">
it's a picture link to Amazon online store. (affiliate ads).
I can't embed that link, I bought JCE Editor and iframe plugin and I can add iframes everywhere except extra field. Is it possible that K2 allow that iframe tags everywhere but not in extra fields. So can anyone help me.

[Solved] There was a problem rendering your image gallery.

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

Up to three days ago, the Gallery was working properly then the following error started to appear:

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/1

Instead of the gallery display I see:

{gallery}1{/gallery}

For the record:

Name convention is correct ( image.jpg )
Above folders exist
Images exist in the folder
Folders are writable
Images were uploaded directly within the .zip file and not within a folder in a .zip

Any ideas anyone?

I have the same problem. I get {gallery}www.flickr.com/photos/79529367@N07/sets/72157629981228370{/gallery} instead of the images itself. I am also getting the error: There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder:

I cannot find the problem. I am running joomla 2.5. latest version of K2. I use the PRO version of SIG.

Any help would be nice.

select template in tag cloud module

Category: English K2 Community

Hi.

I have made some changes in a custom templata but now i have a problem for use this template in many modules.
I dont know if there is any way to choose the template presentation for list items from a tag cloud item click. The default template appears. At the module options (tag cloud), I can only see parameters related within the category involved/filtered, nothing about the template

I found a similar thread
getk2.org/community/Communaut%C3%A9-fran%C3%A7aise-K2/8939-Module-K2-Tools-Tags-selon-le-template-cat%C3%A9gorie#8939
but not answers, so i dont know if its possible.

Thanks advanced

Empty Javascript being added when I enable K2.

Category: English K2 Community

I have a site that I have to do some work on that uses k2, and seems to be having a strange issue.

If k2 is enabled I have <script src="/" type="text/javascript"></script> added to the head section of the page, and this goes away if i disable the k2 system component.

I am not sure why this empty script tag is getting added but it seems kind of odd. The site itself is at hseplus.com if you wanted to see the generated source.

any ideas?

K2 / SIGpro layout problem

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

Hi Katia: Thanks for you reply. Today I'm gonna check my site from a different network to see if the horrible positioning of the thumbnail is a local issue (wrong position attachment). So far, what I found is that when I remove a css making the box float left it kinda gets better (right position attachment), but I really have no way to know how exactly this plugin is supposed to look. Do you know of a test site somewhere where I can see how is sigpro supposed to look within K2? And I mean, WITHOUT using tags.

By removing the float left element (ul.sigProClassic @ template.css) the thumbnail box moves up and looks way better than now. I can do that but I really want to confirm this before adding an override that might screw up something else. So my question is , is this the way sigpro is supposed to look?  ???

Youtube option is missing

Category: English K2 Community

After upgrading into Joomla 1.5.26 and K2 2.5.7 I have lost the Youtube option in the editors media tag. I guess there's some db-trouble. Or what else would it be?

I am using the AllVideos plugin from Joomlaworks. All worked perfectly before.

Does anyone know how to restore the values in the db table so Youtube will appear again?

Merci :cheer:

K2 / SIGpro layout problem

Hi Katia: Got your PM and you were right (I replied in a PM but it's better if I share my experience here with others). I thought that adding tags was the way to put galleries into articles. Now I see that galleries show up automatically after adding a gallery at the end of an article (I think  :-\). I solve my main issue by removing the tag and now  don't have two thumbnails showing up.

However, as I mentioned in my PM, the gallery thumbnail is still breaking the site. I think it is trying to show up in the "more in this section" row of the article and ends up overlapping that and the box where the comments form is.  Can you please take a look (again) at my site and see if you can figure what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your awesome support.

K2 Testimonial Extension

Category: English K2 Community

I have been using RSMonials but my client wants to associate the submitted testimonials with other k2 items on the site, usually done with k2 Tags.

Option1: Is there a k2 testimonial extension that allows the public to submit a K2 Item for review, most likely a unpublished k2 item, and then my client can approve it by publish the testimonial from the backend? Essentially is there a way to allow the public to create an unpublished K2 Item ans notify the site admin by email?

Option 2: Use a Form to take the testimonial that then gets emailed to the client. The client would then have to copy the text from the email and into a K2 Item within a Category "Testimonial".

Rearranging the layout in the K2 item pages

Category: English K2 Community

As William said it's the best way to use the override and then you can rearrange anything as you want. It's not too hard. Everything is surrounded by the div tag. So you just take the specific peace of cod and move it as you want. Take care about clear divs. And later you need some small changes in css file.

Rearranging the layout in the K2 item pages

Category: English K2 Community

I was wondering how I would be able to move the video player right beneath the writing content and the facebook comments to the bottom of the page (below the TAGGED UNDER section). I tried re-arranging the orders in the plugin section but no luck. Here's an example of what I mean: mixedaudio.com/index.php/genres/house/item/142-teenage-crime-adrian-lux-thomas-gold-preview

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sig Pro with K2 suddenly not working.

Category: Simple Image Gallery

Ok, I have exhausted my research on this problem.

Joomla 1.5.22
K2 v. 2.5.4
Sig Pro 2.5.7

Had it installed and working. no problem.

didnt need to use it for awhile. went to upload a new image gallery. didnt work. just went back to home screen.

checked permissions - cache,media,k2, galleries directories all 777

went to previous article that was previously working. got this error.

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder:media/k2/galleries/384

hmm. front end just has tags where gallery should be.
{gallery}384{/gallery}

FTP in - media/k2/galleries/384 exists and still has images in it. (worked for undisclosed amount of time just fine)

uninstalled SigPro, reinstalled SigPro.

checked plugin - enabled. default folder - images/stories

here is where it gets weird...

cleared browser cache refreshed page (previously working) - same error - referring to "media/k2/galleries" directory.

that parameter is not set that way anywhere (it is set to images/stories)! not in the database, not in the plugin setting, not anywhere in K2 that I can see... I switch parameter to media/k2/galleries, I get same exact result.

why is it looking in that directory? A directory it shouldnt be looking in(media/k2/galleries), and furthermore, why does it say the directory isnt there when I can see it..

no weird file names or folders in zip file... keep in mind it WAS working fine... I dont know what, when or why it stopped.

I have seen this problem in the forums, but it was cache permissions or someone zipped a folder into their zip file...

not here.. again it was working fine. everything is set proper. and no matter what default directory I set in the plugin, it continues to look in media/k2/galleries... and it acts like the plugin is disabled in the front end ( {gallery}384{/gallery} )

this one has me stumped. that doesnt happen often lol.

Bonjour Roman,
