Hi,I decided to install the K2 Tag Cloud Module but no tag is appearing in the module after having searched by several keywords in the K2 search module.Do we have to configure something special?Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi!I have a client that is using icons instead of tag names. They wish to use these icons throughout the site, using K2 tags.Each tag has an ID, and I want to use this ID to assign a CSS selector in order to show the icon instead of the tag name.The first challenge was in the K2 item view, and I was able to get the ID's by simply echoing <?php echo $tag->id; ?>. It works like a charm so far, and I can assign the different CSS selectors to the tags in the item view.(this modification was done in com_k2/templates/default/item.php - line 333)The second challenge is to do the same in the tag cloud module. I tried echoing the same string value in the module html template, but nothing returns and I don't know how to extract the tag ID from the module.(I am trying this mod in mod_k2_tools/tmpl/tags.php - line 18)Can anyone help me to extract the tag ID in the module? Any clues would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

We installed K2 v2.3 and when we try to add a new category we get the message:

We tried to uninstall and install again but it didn't work, and we don't find any other discussion with the same error so... here we are :)

Having a similar issue - using mod_k2_content but this means I have to create a duplicate of the module for each different type of item (and their are lots so am hoping for a more automatic solution). Tags are fine but appear at the end of the article whereas, ideally, I would like to have them displayed in the right hand column as I currently have the k2 content module.

Anyone have any idea how to have tag related items shown as per a k2 content module? It would be great if someone knows how to solve this issue.

Edit file modules/mod_k2_content/tmpl/Default/default.php and remove (or comment) the 2 ul tags at line #21 and #176. Then replace the li tags at line #23, #173 and #175 with the div tag and you are set.

I have a need for some special content, basically an article post with tags and then integration with a special commenting application.  I am planning on using jomsocial, and as part of the jomsocial profile having a special flag.  Users will be able to select up to four different flags associated with their account.  When a user submits a K2 article, I'll need to somehow pull the information from the jomsocial profile and then ad a dropdown that is limited to just the flags associated with the member profile.Questions:1) Can I add a custom field that will auto-fill programatically based on jomsocial database values?2) Where would I go about doing this?  Is this doable through template overrides?  Or would it require development of a K2 addon?  Or none of the above?Next, I'll need to have a somewhat customized comments module.  Question:3) Would the easiest way to do this be to add JomComments and hack it?

I love K2! It is really what Joomla needs. And I am really glad that it fast developing. Just one simple suggestion that could be a good add on in future version.

In catagory manager there is item ordering function in Category item layout which is set as "defualt". It is good idea as it helps to change item ordering in all sections just changing one parameter in "parameters". Those it could be a good option if parameters would include this option as well. feature is important for website which have hundreds of categories.

For K2 v2.3.  grid view with 3 column make changes to the following files 

components/com_k2/templates/default/tag.php

components/com_k2/css/k2.css

tag.php

k2.css

There was a template in my template folder! /templates/gk_corporate2/html/com_k2/templates/default/category.php I just removed the code between the "h3" tag as showed in the source code and everything is as my wish.

As I am not a programmer, it is a little bit difficult for me to look at things deeper down, but I did a little experiment.

I have a couple of sites that run on WordPress, and in WP, you can easily add an article to as many categories as you want. So I checked the database.

In the wp_posts table, there is something about category, but it is not used. Instead, there are three tables

wp_terms
wp_term_relationships
wp_term_taxonomy

Checking these makes it clear that the terms are merely a form of tags that are grouped into different functions according to the taxonomy table (forgive me for describing this in laymans terms - non-programmer, remember? :-D ).

So depending on the taxonomy, a term can be either a "category", a "link_category" or a "post_tag".

I have no idea how big hit the database in WP takes by doing it this way, but it can not be too bad as WP runs with a lot of big sites...

Hey guys, there were a few people interested in the dynamic maps module, so I thought I'd let you know that I have a working version (you can see it in action over at the www.gatorglob.com site (click on the small map on the right, or choose the Urban GLOB Map option from the top menu).

This has been developed to mainly work with the tags, due to the nature of the site, however, I can update as required. It went a long way from just being a module :^) It's now a full blown component with filtering options etc

Once you import and have K2 all functioning the users are automatically placed in K2 intagrated with Joomla. I have no experience with using both separately at the same time and am new to this also, sorry. Maybe someone will help out on this, ANYONE!
I imported all of my Joomla content also and plan to manage the content and users in K2 only on a fresh install. I am only in the dev stage and don't have anything live yet to be sure for what you are asking.
First off what Joomla functions do you need to give permissions for?

Ok the problem is on the url, there is not the itemid of the menu. How to insert the itemid?
The sef extension is on components/com_K2/sef_ext/com_k2.php

I know this question about K2 & joomFish is a long disputed subject. I am relatively new to joomla, please forgive me.
I have set everything up so far but I can't get joomFish working for the articles, categories and the rest of the K2 items. I have read some posts about the order of the installation, and yes I made it wrong (I installed K2 first). But I have copied the core xml files:

k2_attachments.xmlk2_categories.xmlk2_extra_fields.xmlk2_items.xmlk2_tags.xmlk2_users.xml

to /administrator/components/com_joomfish/contentelements/.

But I am still not able to get the translation drop down window working (for entering preferred translation of the items).
Could someone tell me if there are element definitions still to change manually??
