Can I slice my community into sections like Joomla content?

Category: English K2 Community

Sounds weird but I want to open a community but keep the members and all related stuff apart.I operate in different markets and have customers like hardcore bikers and caring mothers, or ultra-competitive triathletes.Till now I only had content I wrote in sections. So if you landed in Motorcycle you only see motorcycle related content. Now I want to introduce community feedback and content submission with tags, calendars, profiles,...K2 can do all that. The only question is: Can K2 keep all motorcycle related stuff apart from all triathlon stuff. Content is simple but what about tags, events, members,...Any idea is greatly appreciated.Cheers,Edward

[SOLVED] K2 Tags - the weakest link

Category: English K2 Community

Hi!Personally I find the tagging system the weakest thing (and so far the only) about K2.For example:-there are problems when tags have non-latin characters or spaces when using SEF urls (there is a hack for this )-there are problems with modules not appearing after clicking on the tags (you can solve this with NoNumber! Advanced Module Manager)-and finnaly, what bothers me most is this: when you click on the tag, you get list of articles (one after another), but if you want to have consistent look of the site (for example in all of the categories I have 4 leading articles in two columns), you cannot achieve this. There are limited options in Global parameters (Layout & view options for Search, Tag & Date listings) which don't include for example number of columns. This issue was already addressed in community.getk2.org/forum/topics/make-generic-view-mimic?commentId=3536014%3AComment%3A37859.
So far I haven't dig into the code and try to solve due to the lack of time, but IMO this needs to be addressed immediately or to be fixed in the next version.

Need Help with K2

Hi there,I get the following warning (and some more) whenever I add an article using mod_k2_content_tag-.Warning: Parameter 2 to plgContentNavigation() expected to be a reference, value given in /opt/lampp/htdocs/NuevaAlcarria/libraries/joomla/event/dispatcher.php on line 136I get the same warnings but naming plgContentVote(), plgContentAllWeblinks(), etc..I've been searching around for a way to fix it, and I think it's related to my php version (5.3.0). My K2 version is 2.2, and Joomla 1.5.15.I hope someone can help me.Thanks a lot!

6 und 7 ist auf jeden fall richtig. Auch unter 2.2 muss die custom css: Ordnername_style.css heissen.

Hallo Troponin,

folgende Konstellation habe ich jetzt:

1. Plugin keep k2 Css steht auf nein
2. das blog-Verzeichnis (/components/com_k2/templates/blog) habe ich gelöscht
3. Verzeichnis /templates/fadc/html/com_k2/templates/blog siehe Bild blog.jpg
4 css tag siehe Bild blog_style_css.jpg

Selection K2 Pre-defined Tags in Front- and Backend Editor

Category: English K2 Community

Hello Mark,
This works in front- and backend identical.

In the frontend it works for those groups who have been given editing rights in "Edit user group " in k2.

Tags are solidly created in the Tag Manager of K2 in the backend. With this methodology we avoid double and unneeded Tags

Cheers 8)

Leo

At what user level does it work?

If an administrator/super-admin is creating K2 Items can they still create new tags if they need them from the New Item interface?

Thanks

Dash stripped in tags

Category: English K2 Community

Hi. We took this decision because there was a problem when using tags with dash and SEF URLs. When a tag contained a dash then the SEF URL was something like : /blah/blah/tag-with-dash. The problem is that Joomla uses the dash character to define the id and the alias in a URL. For example a URL to a K2 item or a com_content article is something like this: /blah/blah/id-alias. So the problem is obvious. Any tag with dash is split by Joomla and this leads K2 to have problems getting the tag from the URL.

Is this excellent mod functioning with K2.2? If not will it get the make-over it deserves??

Well, I'll answer my own question - yes, it works! Hint: It always helps to select the correct tag(s)!

It would be nice to hear from them as I have confirmed that the tags are fine on the RC install I have but not with the Stable version so it sort of proves it is related to updates done to the latest version.
I might just downgrade and see how I go from there....

Thanks,

Flavia

I'm not sure what else to suggest, as everything is working fine my local dev site (fresh install).

Maybe someone from the K2 team can step in and offer some advice on where else to check?

Dash stripped in tags

Category: English K2 Community

Hello!First many thanks to the developers for this great CCK! In our company we're currently building a website based on K2. At the moment we're using K2 v2.2 and Joomla! 1.5.13 (will be updated when finished and new website online). We started with K2 v2.1 and added with this version all tags. As I was controlling the tags after updating to K2 v2.2, I noticed that all tags which contains a dash (-) are listed a second time without a dash. If I want to save a tag containg a dash, the dash will be stripped.Has anybody an idea how to fix it?Many thanks in advance

Sort articles and view by tags or extra fields

Category: English K2 Community

I need to generate article lists like this:

The articles in a category deals with international questions, I would like  to list them in two ways:

1. A plain list ordered via publishing date, for example

USA_article_1 27-8-2009
Chile_article_1 24-8-2009
China_article_1 21-8-2009
USA_article_2 20-8-2009

etc...

2. An aggregated list with info on number of articles:

Chile (1 article)
China (1 article)
USA (2 articles)

etc...

Is it possible to do this with the help of K2:s tags or extra fields?

Any help would be appreciated.

Selection K2 Pre-defined Tags in Front- and Backend Editor

Category: English K2 Community

This (only 3 files) K2 hack allow you to select the tag from a pull down in the right pane of the K2-Editor through a new parameter set "Multiple Tag Selection" The example you see is in combination with the JCE-Editor (freely available). Works with TinyMCE as well of course. The functionality does not allow users anymore to create their own Tag which becomes quite chaotic especially when you want to use the Menu link option "Tag"

Selected Tags are shown after saving the article in the Tag field. Deleting you do by unchecking the Tags in the selectbox. We cannot make it more easier for you!

You can get it here (commercial GPL)

I have cleaned the cache and still nothing. The checked the parameters for the category (blog) , the parameters for the item itself and cleanup code is disabled on both.
I should be back around 3 to put the backup online and see what I can do with it...maybe revert to RC.

By the way, where are disabling the introtext cleanup? I just echoed out the introTextCleanup and it switches from 0 to 1 when i enable from the K2 params, so the variable is definitely working.
