The button should be placed in your overrides, pretty much you can construct an <a> element which holds the item's link and has a target="_blank" value.
The admin can use super user access-level in order to preview items, other users can't see.

I've downloaded the last version of k2 (2.8) and AllVideos, and in the media pane, I've got the same result in preview. Do you remember how to fix this?

I have a site with the following set up: we have 25 editors who can add, edit and view their own (unpublshed) articles. To preview view their own articles they have to save and close the article and the go to their own page an click on read more.
We also have 3 editors-in-chief who have access to the admin of the site. There they can edit and publish all articles. What they can't do is preview an article before it is published, because the frontend of K2 only allows users to view their own unpublished articles, even though an admin or editor-in-chief has full rights.

Two questions:

• is it possible to add a preview button to the edit form (so an author can easy preview his own article)?
• how can I set to the access rights so an admin can preview all articles?

I want to show the mod_k2_content module in Item View (to provide interesting other content to readers). You can imagine that it would be of little value to provide another preview/link to the current item. However, there's no filtering option for this built-in to K2.

I tried some stuff but I just don't get it to work. Here's what I tried - I'm in modules/mod_k2_content/helper.php (since this seems to be where the content query is filtered) and added the following between the filtering and the ordering (around line 200 in my version of K2):

Anyone know why this doesn't work and if this is even the right approach? Or where else in the module code I could include a statement to compare the item IDs?

I would like to show all K2 article as link or as preview (with read more) distributed on different Joomla pages..
For example, to show 5 article for each Joomla page, with the possibility to goes on to show all articles until the end.
Is this possible? Or is there a better way?

You have made such an impact in our sites and we thank you for that.

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the UX.
As a user editing an article, it would be moooost helpful if there was a button that could drive me to the real preview of the article in the frontend.

If there is already an extension about that, I would love to hear it.

(In case the above statement is not fully understandable, I shall explain it with more words. While in the edit article page at the backend, people would love it if there was a preview ITEM button that would take you to a new window > on the frontend of the current site > logged-in user (or not) > page-of-item-saved)

Since videos are served through YouTube, YouTube serves the preview as well.

Simply upload an image in the specified formats with the exact filename as the video in the same folder (as the video).

I did not find the following function how to use it, do you have a more detailed documentation?
“Poster (preview) images can now be used with both local and remote media files. Local poster images can be in .jpg, .png or even .gif formats, but remote poster images are only supported in .jpg.”

I've returned to K2 using a commercial template - the behaviour of the item images opening in light box preview is not predictable.
The image opens in a separate window and site visitor needs to click browser return. to K2 item page.
Is there an option to disable the preview image or a place to investigate the falure of lightbox.
I've read a post from 2012 about commenting out a line of php. However K2 has developed and that line does not appear in the file.

Too bad the recent K2 update still doesn't have an option for authors to preview their own (draft) articles…

Do you use some of the Regular Labs extensions (Better preview,...) ?

I have setup 12 Extra Field images. I want the client to be able to upload 12 images that display as thumbnails and then when clicked they pop open in a modal box.

This is the code I have and it does not open the Extra Field but instead another image on the page. I can't figure out why.

Just for the newbie like me ;-) a full detailed description:

Access the Joomla site with an FTP client
Navigate to:
Plugins
Content
jv_allvideos
jv_allvideos
includes
Download the file "sources.php"

In the downloaded file, at line 236 (maybe will be different in other plugin's versions) you will find:
/* --- Major 3rd party video providers --- */
There is another commented line after this; ignore it.
The first line of code in this section will begin with: "YouTube" =>
In this line add "&showinfo=0" (without quotes) after "{SOURCE}"

The first part of the line will be changed then from:
"YouTube" => "<iframe src=\"//www.youtube.com/embed/{SOURCE}\" width=
to
"YouTube" => "<iframe src=\"//www.youtube.com/embed/{SOURCE}&showinfo=0\" width=

Save the modified file. Before uploading it, rename the remote file from "sources.php" to something like "ORIGINAL_sources.php" or "OLD_sources.php" or anything else to be able to restore the original version in case of need.
Now, upload the modified "sources.php" file.
Clear the caches (I think this may be needed bot not sure) and enjoy the videos from youtube without title over the preview.

I have been working for days to try to get video to play in the front end of my site but have not been able to get it to work. Note that I can embed a video in the content of my K2 item such as adding {youtube}jcKoyA872uE{/youtube} to the content, however when I try to use the media tab to "Use online video service" or "embed" the video, it will not show up in my frontend. When I save the Item, the video is displayed in the "Media Preview" section of the backend however, like I said, it does not appear in the frontend. I have searched everywhere in the support section to find out what is wrong. It has to be some setting that simply isn't turned on. Can someone please help me?

1. You can use the K2 tools module or a mod_menu.
2. The K2 image is being resized so you can use different sizes in the preview and full item.
