Problem with RSS Reader 3.6 was created by Oliver Lorch
Hello Joomlaworks Team,

I have a question about your modul "JoomlaWorks 'Simple RSS Feed Reader' Module v3.6.0".

Today I updated the RSS reader from version 3.5 to 3.6 and now the news in the RSS feed have the URL of the website before the URL of the target news.
Looks like:
messerer-steuerberater.de/ www.datev.de/web/de/aktuelles/nachrichten-steuern-und-recht/recht/niedersaechsische-besoldung-nicht-amtsangemessen/?stat_Mparam=int_rss_datev-de_nachrichten-steuern-und-recht

The website it occurs is : messerer-steuerberater.de/ on the startpage on the right side >> "News von datev.de".

Any idea what I can do to get the correct url to link to the news?
Every click now leads to a 404 error.

Thanks in advance for any idea.
Oliver

Are you using an override for the module within your Joomla template?

No, I am using only overrides for custom, search and menu, not for the RSS reader.

I use these two URL's:

www.datev.de/web/de/rss/nachrichten-steuern.rss
www.datev.de/web/de/rss/nachrichten-steuern-und-recht.rss

You can find them here:
www.datev.de/web/de/aktuelles/rss/

The only difference I found is that option in the module, that is no longer available in 3.6:
In 3.5 it was called: "Redirect all links through your site's domain" - and it was set to yes.

I restored a backup with RSS Reader version 3.5 on test.messerer-steuerberater.de. You can see, it is working there.
The urls are like:
test.messerer-steuerberater.de/modules/mod_jw_srfr/redir.php?url=+https%3A%2F%2Fwww.datev.de%2Fweb%2Fde%2Faktuelles%2Fnachrichten-steuern-und-recht%2Frecht%2Fprofessorin-muss-wegen-leihfristueberschreitung-2-250-euro-gebuehren-an-hochschulbibliothek-zahlen%2F%3Fstat_Mparam%3Dint_rss_datev-de_nachrichten-steuern-und-recht+

The bold part has changed to a simple space in 3.6.
On Oct 30th I did an update to J3.9, than I updated the language file of Joomla and then the RSS reader from 3.5 to 3.6.

I highly recommend you disable the redirect option in 3.5 and THEN upgrade to 3.6. Let me know if that change following the upgrade resolved the issue.

Ok, I did change the option redirect from yes to no and then I had the same problem, that I have now on live server on the test server too, but with 3.5.

Then I did the upgrade to 3.6 and the same problem still exists.

The redirect seems to be the solutuion for my problem, but I am not sure if theres not another problem too.
If you want, I can set up a super user on the test server. Pls send an email to me and I send you the login data.

BTW: I tested on protostar template and same there....

Are you sure you're not seeing cache issues?

Hello Fotis,
yes I am sure. On the test server at test.messerer-steuerberater.de/ caching is set to no, I cleaned browser cache and restarted my pc. Do you see other things than me?
I am still having URL's like that:
"test.messerer-steuerberater.de/ www.datev.de/web/de/aktuelles/nachrichten-steuern-und-recht/wirtschaftspruefung/konzentration-im-abschlusspruefungsmarkt-kapitalmarktorientierter-unternehmen-nimmt-zu/?stat_Mparam=int_rss_datev-de_nachrichten-steuern-und-recht"
which leads to a 404 error.
And I did the update like you suggested.
Regards
Oliver

The source feeds may be problematic. I'll test them on my dev site as well and get back to you.
