I looked pretty hard to find a solution with no joy.

I have installed the Allvideo 3.3 for Joomla 1.5.23 and have had great success embedding a Vimeo
vid into my site.

At the top of my page there is a position that is using the mod_custom which is a module that allows for custom html.

When I place  {vimeo}27060774{/vimeo} in the html it does not work.

Any idea why it wont work?

The mod_custom does not render content plugins. You need to find modules that have this option, such as JoomlaWorks Custom Code module. You can download it here: www.joomlaworks.net/content/view/93/34/
