Another EASY ??? was created by anothernewbie
Ok, I have another easy (4U) question... Sorry but I am a TRUE newbie!

I am trying to embed an mp4 file and the instructions seem easy enough BUT it's not working.  I originally put the file into my own images/Media/Video subfolder as the mentioned default, images/stories/video, didn't exist after I installed the mambot. I changed the Local Video File parameter and published the mambot. ({mp4}images/media/video/myvideofile{/mp4}).

When that didn't work, I created the default folder, changed the pointer and re-uploaded the file; I even tried changing the file permissions to include X ({mp4}myvideofile{/mp4}).

The page starts loading Quicktime then just goes off... no error message... nothing... just an inactive "Q" with a "?"... ???

Is it an issue with file location? File type? Security? Other parmeter settings? What am I missing?  :-[

Using Vista, IE7, Joomla 1.0, AllVideo plugin v2.x, Quicktime 7

Anything will help!  Thanks!

I'm also having this same problem. Does anyone know how I might fix it?

Here are my details.
AVP version 2.4
File location and name: images/stories/video/hds_psa_medium.mp4
AVP default path: images/stories/
Mambot code: {mp4}video/hds_psa_medium{/mp4}

I've tried playing an mp3 file, and that works fine.
I've tried mistyping the name of the mp4 and all I get is a quicktime Q, no question mark. SO I know that it is finding the file. It's just not loading or playing.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I couldn't find a solution that would get the mp4 file working. So I converted it to flv and it works great now.
