I am using the following code:

{wmv}filename{/wmv}

It is in a folder in the stories sub-directory called videos, I have tried the above code both with and without the filename extension .wmv - and only the code is appearing. Now I don't know if this matters, but this being done through a module, someone just did a test page for me outside of modules, and at least the player is appearing now

That is exactly why I am here... same problem.  Not much in the instructions to cover this ... kind of frustrating....

I am using it in a custom html module for Joomla and it's not working...

Sounds like the PLUGIN is not enabled.

ENABLE PLUGIN
-login to the JOOMLA ADMINISTRATOR
-click EXTENSIONS > PLUGIN MANAGER (at the top)
-find ALLVIDEOS
-enable ALLVIDEOS plugin

Then start an article and embed the video.

EMBED VIDEO
-login to the JOOMLA ADMINISTRATOR
-click CONTENT > ARTICLE MANAGER (at the top)
-either start a new article or edit an existing article
-type: {youtube}DV81bAghxBU{/youtube}

Got is working? Video shows? Good. Use the following as a guide of what to type:

Developers can customize the code at:
<joomlaroot>/plugins/content/jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos_sources.php

This will enable you to:
-add your own providers
-hide your source, get rid of the "JoomlaWorks AllVideos Player" hover
