Hello. I have the following problem:

I have installed Allvideos and set its video filepath to images/stories/virtuemart/product for the plugin.

When I try to paste in a video I use a shortcode like {mp4}videoname{/mp4}. The file videoname.mp4 is located in this folder:
public_html/images/stories/virtuemart/product/

Instead of the video player I see only the shortcode as a text. Can you tell me how can I fix this issue?

This means that the plugin can't be rendered. I need some context, where did you place the tag?

I have put it to the text of the article.

I have put it like

<p> Something texty {mp4}videoname{/mp4} </p>

Move that shortcode into an HTML module and enable the "Prepare Content" setting.

Is it working with the default Joomla! template?

I am using Purity 3 and no other plugins let alone a language switcher and a slideshow maker are active on the site

Can you try browsing the same article using another template?

I have tried but no effect. Can it be the VirtueMart component I am using?

It is possible that the product template does not trigger any content plugins.
This means that no content plugins can be used, not just AllVideos.
Finally you might need to edit your template to support plugins,
