I installed Allvideo 2.5.3 with Joomla 1.5.9 and can play .flv file just fine. However, I cannot play mp4, wmv, or swf files. With mp4 files the Quicktime logo shows but no buttons and no way to play the file. With .wmv files I get a message to install SilverLight. And the .swf files show a dotted outline of the dimensions of the player with a black screen. I've checked my file extensions in the Global Configuration, System tab, and the file extensions are there. Also, when I open the help file I see a configuration screen that has many more configuration parameters than the AllVideo version I installed.

I have this link that can help you with the mp4 filetype. Possible it can be fitted to work with other formats as well. It will solve your problem by playing the mp4 file using the standard JWPlayer instead of the quicktime player.
