Mp3 plays too fast?

Hi,
I have installed everything and when I try to play mp3 file it plays but way too fast. What could be the problem and how to fix it?
Should I try another format? Which one is the best?

MP3s need to be encoded in Constant Bit Rate mode and not Variable (VBR).  ;)

It is encoded using MPEG Audio Layer-3
128Kbps. It plays ok in all players except for this.
