We followed your instructions in order to install the nuMagazine's Quickstart package but when we try to access the administration backend the browser screen is shown empty and when accessing the frontend only text characters are shown.

In order to reproduce what might have gone wrong with your Quickstart installation package, could you give us more information about your server specifications (MySQL version, PHP version) and a brief description of the steps you followed? Also, specify if you used the Kickstart method of extraction.

The live site URL field is wrong.
I think you entered www.domain.com rather than www.domain.com.

Btw, you can safely omit this field which is completely optional.

The current and correct one is: www.livethepassion.do

It should be in the format of http:// www . domain.com, the http:// part is important.
You can however remove this option from your configuration file and the site will function properly.
