K2 item in Multiple Categories

Currently, I am using certain tags as categories by linking them to an item or blank page and using a content item, custom module, content module and image rotator module to serve as the category description. This makes it more difficult to create and manage but more customizable.
Still wish we had the option referenced herein.

use an xref table. Easy. That way you can link multiple categories to 1 item id. Or you can go the cheap way and store all the categories inside a new row and have php then parse out the id's. This can be done with explode() and implode()
As for the back end you can have a new drop down appear after you select a category. I have over 200 categories so a tag based system or a simple list system wouldn't work for me (unless the list is inside a frame)
It's really not hard to do guys.. I could code it in several days.. i'm just working on college stuff right now.

We have just released a 1 click installable component to handle assigning K2 items to multiple categories. It is VERY easy to use and you can be up and running in 10 minutes.
You can see it here:
usjoomlapros.com/Extensions/K2-Multi-Categoris/flypage.tpl.html
We have used it on our site. We are using K2 for our portfolio, and have assigned any of the custom template projects we have done to BOTH the portfolio and custom template categories and it works great.
Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions.

K2 is free and there are a lot of free extensions on the JED and even those that are commercial are only a few dollars.Theres no information on the extension, what it does, instructions or anything.
I have to ask, what makes this so special?
A few sales at a high price does not compare to 1000s at a sensible price.
Send me a DM, perhaps we can get this tested and a review added to Simon.getk2.org

Well, it was very complex. And it is our first component, so we chose $79 as a starting price point to see what kind of feedback we get. We have sold a number of Joomla Multi Category components at that price point, but are always open to discussion on price/volume. I understand selling 1000 @ $10 would be much better than 50 @ $79 and I am open testing.
The details/instructions are all there. It is VERY easy to implement. It is a 1 click install, and it allows you to assign K2 items to multiple categories.
Send me your email and I will send you a copy for review.

Perhaps with more time, product maturity and some positive reviews, the price tag would be well quantified. Considering the price point, though, I lean toward Simon's assessment and would consider $15 to $25 to deliver a greater return on investment than would the $79 price point. Consider that the lower price point would render a more forgiving customer base of bugs and the fact that the customer base would be far greater in quantity, allowing you to draw upon the experience of more people to achieve product maturity much quicker.
Thanks.

It great that you have had some sales already, but do wonder if you would get much mote at a lower price.
I will send you a message later, maybe if it works well I can also help promote it via k2joom.

Where it falls short of Wordpress: Items cannot be posted to multiple categories, causing a quandary in some content structure logic. It does not have a mobile app, which allows users to quickly post via mobile devices. While there are advantages to being in Joomla, K2 inherits the hassle of having to migrate to newer versions every two years or so, causing great issues with cost, client relations and potential SEO / URL issues. Lastly, as previously mentioned, it does not a draft, auto-save and preview system, which has caused thousands of words to go missing because of session or database timeout (NOT WRITER FRIENDLY).
