Dude, I found a work-a-round for this, I just forgot to report it here. My apologies.

Anyways, just copy one of pagination.php files from existing templates to /templates/your_template_here/html/ -folder and modify it. That worked for me.

com_k2/templates/category.php

" com_k2/templates/category.php "
this file only call the pagination function.

i'm strugelling with this myself.

i was sure k2 just call the joomla pagination, but when i found it and modified the files there was no change in the layout.

will keep trying...

It indeed uses Joomla! 's default pagination.
