Does K2 Import Joomla Articles...?

Does K2 have the ability to import native JOOMLA sections/categories/articles (or possibly an addon) or do they have to all be individually cut/pasted into K2?
Thanks
David

Yes, you can import all joomla sections/categories/articles as well as users with a click of a button (while leaving Joomla Content intact to be deleted later or even use joomla format at same time) but only do it once so it will not duplicate. The new structure will be sections as the parent and categories will be the sub-category and your articles will then become items ie. like parent/sub/item. Very simple.
Then links can be built to the new categories in many ways.

try it on a small site, then look at your k2 categories and compare them to Joomla Sections and Categories

I want to use K2, but I'm new and a little nervous. I don't want to lose the layout I have now and start over. Will my modules still function the way they do now?

a k2 category will be created for each joomla section
a k2 sub-category will be created for each joomla category
joomla articles will be created as k2 items and assigned to the approporiate k2 category
joomla users will be added as k2 users
your site should not change
do not click the import button more than once or you will get duplicates of everything
try xampp on localhost and give it a test if your nervous
or better yet.....backup first....! try akeeba backup

After the import of joomla to k2 you no changes will be made to your site except the following
a k2 category will be created for each joomla section
a k2 sub-category will be created for each joomla category
joomla articles will be created as k2 items and assigned to the approporiate k2 category...

Just create a "new" menu item and use the k2 type, point it to a k2 category and give it a try

If I import all my content (articles, sections, categories, etc.) into K2 and have any sort of problems, can I just disable K2 and go back to my original layout without K2? (With my old Joomla articles, categories, etc. still intact?)

Importing will not create any menu links or change you existing ones

First, export your articles with phpmyadmin to a csv file, then use the import tool to move them to k2 modernmagic said:
Is there a way to import selected joomla articles instead of all of them?

William's method is very good, as an alternative you could also try this:
On a clean local install of K2 and MAKE SURE YOU USE A BACKUP DATABASE COPY!
1. Delete all the Joomla articles/sections you are not interested in (make sure they are trashed completely and not just disabled)
2.Use the "Import Joomla" K2 functionality
3. Go to MyPHP and export all the k2 related tables
4. Reload the original joomla database with all your Joomla articles
5. Import the K2 tables via MyPHP
Keep in mind that this should preferably be done BEFORE you do any work on any K2 functionality.
