Item count hits was created by RCC
Hello,
I would want to know the rules that k2 used to count the hits in a k2 item. I have a website where the hits do not coincide with googleanalytics.
For example, I have a k2 item in the website where k2 says that it has 70 hits, but google analytics says that this page has only 25 visits. For every k2 item, k2 has a higher number of hits that google analytics.
We have extrawatch installed in the website, and the values from extrawatch are the same as the values from google analytics.
Where do the hits of k2 come from?
How can I make that the k2 visits match with google analytics?
Thanks in advance

Hi. K2 starts counting when you develop the site. So if you put Google Analytics later it is normal that the count does not match. In general you need to know that K2 hits is only used to provide an indicator for most popular items. For 100% accurate results you should use Google analytics as K2 might miss some hits because of Joomla! caching.

Thanks Lefteris for your answer.
I understand what you say, but our case is the opposite. k2 counts more hits than google analytics. K2 counts 100 hits more than google analytics. Does k2 count the robots?
Thanks in advance

I already explained you why it might be more. If you created the item when you were developing the site K2 started counting before you put Google Analytics. Also if you migrated the site from a previous version then the hits are also migrated. To be sure that K2 counts more you need to create a new item and test. Regarding the bots, yes K2 will count any request to a K2 item page. It is working the same way as core Joomla! articles count work. And as i told you, it is just used to provide the most popular items, not accurate statistics. For accurate statistics you should use Google analytics.

Hello Lefteris,
Sorry, I have not explained all the situation. I have created the items (which I refer to) after the google analytics activation. So, the hits should not be higher than google analytics.
Thanks

I don't know. Maybe the difference is due to bots requests.

Yes. K2 counts every request to a K2 item page. The only exception is when caching is on as i explained.
