404 errors was created by bur
hi folks,
first off all i will have to apologize for my poor english.
i am working with joomla 2.5.20 and k2 2.6.8.
now, when i have a look at the google webmastertools i see a lot of 404 errors with the following patterns:
1) component/k2/author/81-2014-04-29-13-35-02?start=20
i do not want this kind of link with author. how to kill that?
2) referenzen/item/51-tchibo/51-tchibo?start=14840
i do not understand the generation of these errors.
how are them created? SEF-problem?
i am using no SEF-module, only joomla standart SEO with URL-rewriting.
k2 preferences:
activate advanced SEF preferences for K2: jes
the pattern &start= seems to be some kind of pagination, but i do not find any preferences concerning pagination in k2.
could you please tell me, how to stop these errors?
this is really annoying, because when i create a forwarding for
referenzen/item/51-tchibo/51-tchibo?start=14840
only a few minutes later i see the next 404 error looking like:
referenzen/item/51-tchibo/51-tchibo?start=14850
the correct link for both would be : referenzen/tchibo
i want to avoid these seo-unfriendly links.
it would be great, if someone could tell me to stop this
kindest regards,
frank

Hi. You cannot stop people ( or bots ) from requesting pages on your site and typing random variables in the URL. Are those links generated by K2? If yes, send me a link on your site which contains the invalid URL. Also note that if you change the URL settings after your site is live, it is normal to get those errors, since the indexed URLs do not work any more.

hi Lefteris,
thx for fast answer.
i am wondering about ?start= in the links
/fr/references/item/51-tchibo/51-tchibo?start=31050
this kind of pagination(i asume, that it is some kind of pagination) comes from K2 or from joomla?
i do not think that genaration coms from bots...
this is the really anoying thing.
would it only be /fr/references/item/51-tchibo/51-tchibo(seo-unfriendly version) without ?start= then 1 redirect would be enough, but because of the ?start= everytime i will have to write a new redirect.
and then i could write 1 redirect to the seofriendly version and from joomla/K2 generated friendly URL:
/fr/references/tchibo and everything would be fine.
where comes this ?start= from?
kindest regards, frank

This URLs are the way Joomla generates pagination. Since it is inside an item it indicates pagination in comments. If you don't have comments in your site, make sure that you have also disable them in K2 parameters. Just hiding them from the page doesn't mean that they are disabled. Spammers can still post comments if they are enabled. If you do have comments in your site then check the comments antispam settings.

hi lefteris,
thx for your answer.
in k2 settings i disabled in 2013 the comments, so i dont have any comments.
at the beginning of 2013 a had the comments activated, then the spammers did spamm thousands of comments and i deactivated it.
it seems so, that these links were generated by the comments and now the spammers try to find the sites that doesnt exist anymore...
could that be?
kindest regards, frank

Yes probably this what is going on. However this should not affect your site at all. The only thing you need to ensure is that there are no comments displayed there. If you have disabled comments then it should be OK.
