Menu item not selected after "Read more..." was created by Rainer Koschnick
Hi,
new to the framework and I'm just trying to move over categories from Joomla! to K2.
This is my new site (no actual content yet): horror-comics.com/
And I have 6 menu items and 3 K2 categories which are bound to the menus News, Review & Stories.
On Home I use the K2 Categories display.
On News, Reviews & Stories I have the "K2 Latest items from (one or more) users or categories" module
So far I have created 1 "News" category item which is shown under Home & News.
I expect that when I click on "Read more..." that it would select the "News" menu, but the item is shown on "Home" instead. Why is that?
It creates this link:
horror-comics.com/index.php/item/1-tales-from-the-crypt-volume-5-on-the-horizon
instead of:
horror-comics.com/index.php/news/item/1-tales-from-the-crypt-volume-5-on-the-horizon
Cheers,
Rainer

Hi. This is happening because the home link is also pointing to the same category. Joomla! will resolve the menu link to the first match it finds. So what is the type of the menu link of your home page?

Thanks! Okay, that makes sense! What I want to do is this:
News / Reviews / Stories are each categories of news items.
When a user clicks on News I only want him to see News items, the same goes for Reviews & Stories.
On Home I want him to see the last items from all of those categories.
So now that I have swapped the menu item types (Home now set to "Latest Items from (one or more) .." AND the others to "Categories") it seems to work.
Now I have those huge category icons on the start page. How do I get rid of those? I would rather have it display just the latest items sorted by publishing date (regardless of the category). It looks like it would now do News items first, then the Reviews and then Stories.
Is that possible?

I think now it's working the way I want it! I'm using "K2 Category" everywhere.
I got rid of the folder icon stuff by hacking the templates. Is that the only way?

The latest view has an option for hiding the category image. You can find it at the menu settings.
