One of my customers has created a handful of articles outside of K2, is there anyway I can import these few articles?

Yes, either by clicking on the import Joomla! content button or by using an extension that provides extra options for this migration.

If you cannot see the button, you can enable it from K2's settings.

If i run the import tool again... will that create duplicate articles & categories?

Could you advise any modules to to this with?

There is a service called CMS2CMS and some extensions posted into the JED.

If the number of articles is rather small, it is much easier to import them by hand.
