extra fields default values

extra fields default values was created by Harris DImoliatis
I have some extra fields with an image as default value.
When i assign theese extra fields, default value (the image in this case) is not automaticaly added to my article.
What might be wrong?

it's under construction, but see product "PENETRON® ADMIX " below produc image.

With the DEV version it is working as expected, while with 2.6.8 I can confirm the issue.
I have reported the issue and I will let you know of a patch.
