Search for K2 authors and titles was created by Thaddeus James
Hi there,
I have built a site for a literary magazine and used K2 for the content. They want a very simple search box that will live in the main nav bar. The problem is that I can not get the search results to include authors or titles. So, if a user was to search for an author name John Doe, the search results come back empty (unless his name is actually in the content of the K2 item). Also, if I searched for the title of an item, let's say "Guardians Of The Galaxy", I would get no results (again, unless that title is actually in the content of the K2 item).

I would think that searching by authors and title would be pretty standard. Am I overlooking something simple, or is there an extension that will make this possible?

Thanks!

Are you using K2 Tools or mod_search?
You can also look at the JED for a K2 advanced search module which adds more functionality to the default K2 Tools module.

Hi Krikor,
Thank you for the reply. I have tried using both the K2 Tools module as well as the the default Joomla search. I have also tried the two most popular search modules from the JED. The problem is that none of them search the author name by default. They also do not have a simple one-box search. The client does not want multiple criteria for their search, they just want a simple search box that can return results based on content titles and authors. See my screenshot to see what they need it to look like.

As a question, why are authors and titles not searchable? I would think they would be as important as any other content.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bumpity, bump-bump. Why even have author profiles if they are not searchable?

K2 by default does not search for users.
