K2 generated url's show in Google despite shortlinks was created by icinfo
Hi,
we are having problems with the K2's self generated URL's. We have short links, made by menuitems, to the pages, but still in the Google results we see that some links we do not use, but are generated by K2 are in Google database. How can we prevent K2 url links to show and only to show the links we create by ourselves via menuitems?
Site:
Here an example:
www.eke-electronics.com/products-en/item/255-ethernet-gateway (this we don't use anywhere, it is generated by K2)
Should it be the short URL www.eke-electronics.com/ethernet-gateway (short link made by us via menuitem)
How can it be that such "item" links are shown in Google? Shouldn't the site automatically show the url set via menus?
How can I fix this?
Any ideas?

I checked your menu and the urls I got where correct.
You need to double check two things:
a) If these links are included in your sitemap.xml
b) Since these urls have been crawled, then it is best to use a canonical link (an extension might be needed) in order to avoid duplicate content.

Hi,
the links are not in the sitemap:
www.eke-electronics.com/sitemap (under Products)
No where on the site has this K2 generated link been used. So that is why it is strange that is has ended in Google.
Can you recommend some component that could be used for such issue? Not familiar with those SEF components.

I did actually find that link in the sitemap.
Check under TCN GATEWAYS.
To be honest I only used menu mapping and I did not have any issue.
Since all these urls where already crawled by your sitemap, then you should look at the JED for a canonical link (for K2) plugin.
Using a SEF extension will solve the duplicate content but it might change all your URLs.

Ah, you're right! ;)
I've unpublished XMAP K2 plugin. Now there are only the menulinks showing not K2 self generated links. NOw only problem is how to get those already in the cyper-world links to disappear from Google. Would add the sitemap to Google again help, or is there a way to do it in Joomla? What do you think?

I would personally use a canonical link.
Since these URLs are already crawled the canonical tag would help you a lot.
