SOLVED: items ordering with multiple categories was created by Martin
Hi,
I want to achieve the following:
I have multiple items in multiple categries.
In a list I want to sort it that way:
item1 Category 1
Item3 Category 2
Item 4 Category 4
Item 2 Category 3
So basically a custom order.
But it seems like its not possible since k2 only allows me to sort in the category.
So what am I missing? Any extenions needed? .....
Thanks

Do these items belong to a master category or to completely different categories?

Since you have a single category, you can map that into a menu item, and select the option to display items from its children categories (if you do not have catalog mode enabled).
Another approach might be to display a K2 content module instead and manually select the items you want to display (no pagination though).

I'm not sure what you mean. Like I wrote I have MANY categories and one that is above those as a master of it. If I map that master into an item and disable catalog mode how would I order the items? K2 does not let me drag and drop it out of its own category in backend list. How do I order it?
Like I wrote I want to order it like that:
item1 Category 1
Item3 Category 2
Item 4 Category 4
Item 2 Category 3
The displaying is not the problem. the order/ordering is.

In this case I think the K2 content will offer more flexibility (drap and drop ordering of these items).

I'm sorry for the late reply.
Like I wrote....K2 does NOT allow me to drag and drop it in that order.
How is this supposed to work?
Please read my posts carefully!
I'm going to explain it again and make it simpler for you to understand:
category 1
has item 1,2,3,4
category 2
has items 5,6,7,8
Now I want to drag & drop sort it in that order: 1,8,2,7,3,6,4,5
But whenever I'm dragging an item outside of it's category the K2 screen/are turns into a shaded area and does not allow a drop.
So since you always reply that I simply drag and drop it....please tell me how!!! What do I miss?
Thanks

I have already replied.
This sort of ordering can only be applied to the K2 Content module.

Event tough I found it now it would have been helpful to give a little bit more details.
It would have been a simple thing for you.

The K2 content offers this functionality.
Publish a module and from its settings you can manually select which items you want to show. These items can also be ordered via drag n' drop.
