Frontend Media Manager was created by Larry Chapman
When I access the Media Manager through the frontend (Images Tab>Browse Server), I get a popup where all buttons are greyed out, there are no file directory listings in the left panel, and no image folders or files are displayed in the main window.
Is this normal? It is my understanding that image uploading isn't available through the frontend Media Manager, but I thought you could access existing images (I can find existing images only by searching for them). I have checked my permissions and configuration, but can't see what is wrong.
Thank you for any help.

Hello,
From the frontend the media manager can only be browsed, this is why the buttons are greyed out.

Thank you for the response. I now understand that the buttons will be greyed out when accessing the media manager from the frontend.
Could you please clarify that I shouldn't be seeing any file directory listing in the left panel of the media manager, and no thumbnails in the main panel? I can do a search and thumbnails show up as expected. But even if the media manager is set to read-only when accessing from the frontend, I was assuming I would see a file directory.

Even though that you cannot add media from the front-end, you can still browse these folder.
You are still seeing the folder structure (as you should) but you are not able to perform other tasks than browsing.

My problem is that I am not seeing any folder structure (see attached screenshot). The folder structure appaers fine when accessing from the backend, so I don't think it is a problem with the images root directory.

Are the folders listed in the backend?
Also are you using any security extensions?
