I have tried that but it doesn't work. I have to individually do it on each article which is somewhat tideous

Hi,

have you inherit Settings on your Categories or have you tried to append "?template=system" (without Quotes) if it works with an System-Template?

Make sure that the category you edited is not inheriting its settings from another category.
