Yes!!! - Frontend Edit in new tab rather then popup was created by Rupert Griffiths
I chanced upon this. If you create a new menu item which is a K2 Item Edit form, and then select the target window to be a "new window with navigation", then the editing template will open in a new tab instead of a popup.
This seems better, than using the pop up.
The save button still works, and so does the close button.
Anybody else doing this? Any down side?
Thanks

Why would there be any downside to this?
This is working properly in the dev version as well.

Yes, maybe none.
I want a super easy to use interface, I guess a potential down side is when people save and the tab closes, they may end up on another tab (not on the correct site anymore).
I'm trying to maintain consistency, so I have had to change "edit item" links from item.php and category_item.php to also open in a new tab.

I would use a new window without navigation so when you are done it closes automatically and it is less confusing for your users.

Thanks for the advice.
This works almost like the pop up in the fist place. Its ok, but I wish I could control the window size - its seems very narrow for me by default ( i have to assume my users are so stupid they cannot expand the window!!)

I think that no user is THAT dumb.
If he/she cannot expand the window to its full extent, he/ she won't probably be able to find your site and submit a post.
Finally if you use the menu item and/ or do not specify dimensions the new window will cover the extend of the screen.
