Hiding/Cutting out long html paths in the address bar? was created by Marek
Hi,
not sure if it is possible or not but looking forward to getting some help from you.
Problem:
Some of our products on our website are pretty nested, therefore their HTML links in the address line is very long. As you can see here:
www.happy-brands.com/index.php/schweissband-schweissbaender-uebersicht/schweissband-standard-7x8cm/schweissband-standard-stick-logo.html
Goal:
I would like to hide or short the html path. So that it shows only the domain name and then already the final product category path. Like that:
www.happy-brands.com/schweissband-standard-stick-logo.html
I achieved already to leave out the "/index.php"-part, with modifying the .htaccess file and activating the "Use URL rewriting" function in joomla. But at the moment I de-activated that function.
So. Anybody any idea? Or is it simply impossible?
Thanks!

The generated URLs are based on your menu structure.
In order to change default Joomla! behaviour you need an SEO/SEF extension like sh404sef which generates its own URLs.

Thanks for the hint. I'll try sh404sef / joomsef and will check if my desired changes are workable with them...

SOLVED!
The solution is: sh404sef !
After successful implemenatation it is possible to hide the nested categories, as desired.
(Via: COMPONENTS > sh404sef > CONFIGURATION > EXTENSION > JOOMLA > SHOW CATEGORY: NONE)
Thanks!
