You need to navigate to K2 -> Categories. Find the item category and click on it to edit it. On the right side of the screen you should see the "Item view options" slider. There you will find the options.

The same options exist in the item edit form to allow you to override the category settings. So check also there.
Ensure also that you are editing the correct category and that the category does not inherits it's parameters from an other category.
If everything is fine and the social buttons are still there , then this is probably an issue of your template which is not respecting K2 settings.

I finally got to the bottom of this.
I had set all of my categories to 'Inherits parameters from' a category which was no longer live. This had all of the social stuff still enabled.
I am sharing this in case some other idiot like myself makes the same mistake and is left tearing their hair out and thinking they have gone insane.
Thanks for your help on this Lefteris
