Hello K2 Community and Developers,
I've published the RSS feed button on my site, but when clicked, it loads a page consisting entirely of a huge string of code, which starts as:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- generator="Joomla! - Open Source Content Management" -->
etc
etc
Can you help me to resolve this?
Any information is very appreciated.
Thank you.

That is the actuall RSS feed.
RSS feeds are basically strings of formatted code.

I see. In that case, is there any drawback to enabling the button?
A user just goes to the page with script and subscribes to the feed via their browser?
Am I understanding correctly?
Thanks.

Yeap,
It is exactly how are describing it. Also there are no drawbacks on the button. People still use RSS feeds.
