After K2 update - simple SEO problem was created by Martin Thorgaard
Hi there,

After updating the K2 component, I got some problems with the URL. I did remember to backup the CSS and Template files, but apperently not the settings :) So as of now, whenever I create a new category, I get : www.mysite.com/content/category

I just want www.mysite.com/category

Im sure this is simple, but I cant figure out where to do the changes.

Regards,
Martin

Do you perhaps have a menu item in your Joomla site that has its "menu item alias" set to "content"?

Thx for your reply, Fotis, but that is not the case here. It happened after I updated K2. It used to work fine, but after the update, the url is wrong.
Whenever I make a new category, is just call it CONTENT. And every article is now called ITEM....

Anyone else have a suggestion?

Sincerely,
Martin

Hi all,
Martin's right, get the same issue after update too.

Before it was : /blog/mycatexample/thenameofnews/

Now it's : /item/XXX-thenameofnews/
(XXX states for the item number of the article)

I'm with last version of everything and sh404 for rewrite engine.

Thanks

Hi Krikor

Yes, I use SH404SEF, and have the exactly same issue as Grégory Roussel.

Sincerely,
Martin

Ok
just find out what happened

all is explain here : www.joomlaworks.net/extensions/commercial/k2-plugin-for-sh404sef

not fair at all, because we have paid for this functionality in sh404 and so we must now buy a plugin again.

That's, IMHO something would have been free, as the article state there's so not often changes for k2 and so this new plugin won't take too much time day by day.
That said, I respect that any work must be paid.

Anyway forced to bought it...

For those who will do the same don"t hesitate to clean your url's in sh404 but don't forget to check the 404 to make the redirection of the wrong new links of your k2 items generated before the plug-in k2 sh404.

Regards all,
Greg

Thanks all.

Sad I have to pay again,. K2 used to be compatible with sh404sef, but not after the update.
Makes me consider, whether I dare to update the next time?

But anyway, installed the above mentioned plugin, and everything works well again, after a very few settings :)

Just ran into this issue... I rolled back my K2 installation to v.2.6.7 - problem resolved. Sorry but I can't bring myself to keep buying plugins for this crap.

I think you should try 2.6.9 instead of 2.6.7.

Hello Fernando,

It is possible that these URLs are a) cached by sh404sef or you are using K2's advanced SEF settings.

Are you talking about new SEO features?
