K2 Tools search result page modules? was created by Benjamin Donner
Hi, if I am using the standard joomla search module on different pages, I can decide which modules that will be shown on the search result page by creating a hidden menu item of the type "Search form or search result" and telling the modules I want to be assigned to that menu item.
When using the K2 Tools Module's search function, this does not seem possible. It seems like the search result from this module is shown with the modules and template shown where the K2 Tools module is (except not all of the time). But I need to define different modules for the search result page and there is no menu item type which correspons with K2 search results. So what should I do?
I tried what is suggested on www.joomlaworks.net/blog/item/196-enhancing-your-k2-site-part-1-better-search-results but this does not work.
Right now my slideshow is left out on some of the result pages (for instance when searching for something on goo.gl/8J9iv8 )
Thanks,
Benjamin

The most simple way to achieve this, is to create a menu item for all K2 content which does not belong to a menu item.
Eg: search, tag and user listings.
You can do this by simply creating an empty K2 Categories (leave the category selection empty) and call it eg: content.
This way you get better URLs and control over your modules.

Thank you Krikor, this works for showing single K2 Items (the user clicks an item from the autocomplete list), but if the user just enters a search term and presses enter, a list of the items that fits the search term is displayed,. How do I get a menu item ID for this page?

Hello Ben,
If you followed the method I mentioned in my earlier post you will get a menu item which holds search listings (as well as orphan user/ tags).
Generally speaking items should not be rendered through that menu item. To ensure this, map each K2 category into separate menu items.

Hi Krikor, it does not help: I create a menu item which menu type k2 categories (and do no configurations for this), and then I assign some modules to this menu item.
Search listings do not get rendered through that menu item / do not get those modules.

Can you provide some context?
What are these listings? Categories, do they belong into another menu item?

The categories have own menu items.
The search result listing comes from a K2 Tools module search
Try searching (Search: "What are interested in?") for for instance Eugenia on the page goo.gl/Sn6PAC . Do not press one of the items but instead just Enter after you have typed Eugenia --> you get a search result listing, and there is no banner picture at the top of the page. (Even if I have a K2 -> Categories menu item with no categories specified and a banner module for that menu item)
Try searching again, and now chose the item Korgen Eugenia for instance - all is fine, the category has a menu item which has a banner module and it is shown correctly.
Can I PM you admin login details somehow to help you in this?

Hi there,
A couple of things, k2-default-module-load-menu-item is not really nice, I would choose a more generic alias like, eg: content.
I can see a banner - /images/banner-kimitoon-1046-transp.png
Now, the Kroken Eugenia is being rendered through a different menu item (correctly) - /eat/restaurants/102-krogen-eugenia and that menu item's banner is showing.
