This is driving me crazy, I don't know if this is a Joomla thing, a K2 thing, a server thing or if my site is possessed by the devil.

I have a K2 category called Club News which has a child category called Tournament News.

I then have a menu item that points to the Club News category. I only want this to show K2 items that are in that category so I set the Fetch Items from Children Categories to No.

As soon as I click Save, this option switches back to Yes.

This happens with other categories too and isn't isolated to the parent category either. For example the same problem exists for the menu item that point to the child category Tournament News. This doesn't have any other child categories so it's not really a problem.

I've tried creating new menu items but it's always the same thing.

Am I missing something basic?

I see the same thing in my menu items and i don't know why.
But i can enter inside my category by components > k2 > categories
and in display settings > category item layout
I can set the 'catalog mode' to yes or no

Aha, yes that worked! Many thanks for that, you saved what little hair I had left.

I suppose that it kind of makes sense that catalog mode can override what the menu link is doing, but it's a bit confusing.

Furthermore (for future reference) if the menu item is pointing to only ONE category then the settings will always revert to the category's settings.
The solution is to either edit the category's settings or add a second category to the menu item.
