Just updated to joomla 3.7 and while the frontend seems fine, the issue starts if you try to edit or create new articles with no language files being loaded. Seems there are many extensions with the same issue due to changes in 3.7.

Backend does not load any of the language files at all.

**Not loaded** : JROOT/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_k2.ini
**Not loaded** : JROOT/plugins/system/k2/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_k2.ini

Without this being loaded no translations strings show. So if you don't know your way around K2 it makes it very very hard to navigate.

Are there updates to the language files or is there a solution for this as of yet or is K2 not being supported anymore?

I am currently using sites in 3.7 and I cannot reproduce this issue.
Since this occurs in other extensions as well, this means that it is not a K2 issue.

This issue has been reported to Joomla!'s repo
github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/15587

I was able to produce the same issue on a development test site. I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it works. This happened after upgrading to 3.7 but after uninstalling and then reinstalling it corrected itself.

You will lose your content if you unistall. If you re-install over an existing installation, is the issue still present?

In my case yes, even after installing over top of the existing install including language pak for English it still produced the same issue with no language definitions showing, just the transaltion string id's but with no translations. I backed up my K2 articles, uninstalled, cleared caches and reinstalled. After the reinstall I installed my backup data and all is now good from what I can see.

Maybe this is related to changes in the DB store. What PHP and MySQL versions is your site using?

Is there any fix in sight for this? I have Joomla 3.7.2 and the K2 Admin interface is just showing String IDs. (see imgur.com/lOmlvJC)

The site is live & depenedent on K2 so I am cautious about un-installing and re-installing K2 to fix this.

Any suggestions?

NEVER ever, uninstall K2, you will lose all of your data.
Re-installation is a different thing than uninstall.

If you are afraid something might go wrong, backup and reinstall K2.

The site uses PHP v 7.1 and the database server type is MariaDB version: 10.0.31-MariaDB. Joomla version 3.7.2 and K2 is current.

Any advice you can offer would be welcome.

Did you try backing up and reinstalling K2? (DO NOT uninstall).

I tried re-installing K2 before my first post and it didn't work. I restored a backup copy of the site that used Joomla 3.6. K2 used the language files corrrectly under 3.6.

I restored the Joomla 3.7.2 version and re-installed K2 again at your suggestion. This time it worked perfectly. K2 is now displaying English language labels correctly under 3.7.2. I'm not sure what is going on but I have a result and can move on.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
