K2 additional categories and php7 was created by Bam Bam
Hey everyone,

I hope you can help me, though it's not an error of K2:
Since I updated to php7 I get following error in the frontend:

Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; plgK2k2additonalcategories has a deprecated constructor in /plugins/k2/k2additonalcategories/k2additonalcategories.php on line 20

Anybody got that issue, too and maybe a solution how to fix that?

Thanks.

Matthew.

Hello Mathew,

Is the extension on Github or a similar platform so we can provide a patch?

Hello,

I have the same issue that Bam Bam.
I have a message in the backoffice : "ALERT - Version of php...". In the configuration, I put the "Error report" to the maximum and in the frontend, I saw that it was the plugin K2 additional categories.fault : "Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in /home/cryptosey/www/plugins/k2/k2additonalcategories/k2additonalcategories.php on line 49".

Do you have any idea because it seems that this plugin has no update since a long time ago?

PS : sorry for my english, I'm french.

Thank you.

Switch error reporting back to "Default" or "None" in Joomla's Global Configuration settings.

Then go to Extensions > Plugins and search for "php". Locate and disable the plugin called "Quick Icon - PHP Version Check" and you're done.

Sorry. The meaning is : is k2 additional categories not the one who cause the problem? And if it does, do you think it might be a serious problem for my website?

These are just PHP warnings. Yes, they come from the extension "Additional Categories for K2" (file /plugins/k2/k2additonalcategories/k2additonalcategories.php) but you can just hide them from the Global Configuration options in Joomla. You can also contact its developer to fix these warnings as they may be hidden in the frontend, but eventually they may fill up log files, especially in sites with lots of traffic.
