Hi
I am having an issue that when a super user edits an item a different super user is then unable to access the item. The item is not locked ie there is no lock icon. The item simply will not open. The colour of the item name is different and it looks locked as the text is darker without a hover effect.
Could you please urgently advise?

Hello,
You need to use Joomla!'s check in tool.
Keep in mind that all other users will be thrown out of the items they are editing.

this does not help - as I said - the item is not being edited at that time by another user. It has already been edited and saved by another user and after that no one else can edit the item.

This is a Joomla!"s feature. If an item or article is not closed and the browser's back button is being used, then it becomes locked.
You need to use the check in tool.

the checkin is not working - there is no lock being displayed next to the item - the item simply can not be opened??

also just to answer your previous question - no the item can not be edited from the front end. Other articles which are not locked can be edited from the front end however when this issue happens the article can not be edited from the front end.

It's very likely that the error is database related as @Krikor stated. Use your web hosting control panel's database repair function. Also check if you have duplicate aliases stored in the trash, and empty all items in the trash.Krikor wrote: Have you tried repairing your db's tables?

Apart from phpMyAdmin, Admin Tools can be used for repairing db's tables.
