I am using k2 tools module with the "author list" funcionality.
I see that by default it is ordering the users by date (latest to newest item created).

I am trying to display the list ordering by the items the author has created.

any ideas?

I think the K2 Users module is better suited, although it has a different UI.

thank you for your reply. Yes it could be useful as the k2 users module offers this funcionality but with this one I cannot select specific categories to fetch the items.

Unfortunately this module only pulls the latest items by certain users.
There is a workaround, you can use some K2 Content module which provide the option to pull items from certain categories AND users.
You will however require several modules.

I am using K2 Content module to load users for specific categories where they have written articles but I cannot order them by the number of the articles.

This is the catch, since you need to order the users and also have filters for the items I would recommend using several instances of the K2 Content module (each user has a separate module).
