Please have a look at peopleatlanta
First of all, I cannot get my K2 items (category="blog") displayed by defining K2 » Item listings » Categories for my Home menu. I have to define a module which I did.
My understanding is that the category determines the layout.
Here is my layout Grid for category "blog"
Leading count 2, Columns of leading 2, Image size Medium
Primary count 2, Columns of primary 2, Image size Medium
Secondary count 2, Columns of secondary 2, Image size Small
Why is it still not two columns?
Please help!

You are loading the K2 Content module which is not made to support a grid: jmp.sh/ti5OhPq

You either need to switch to the component view or do some CSS overrides (perhaps easier). In any case, it'd be nice to contact your template provider if they already supported K2 in their template.

P.S. There is a Pro version of K2 Content in the works. It supports grids, multiple layouts, slideshows etc. If you need early access, become a patron for K2 here (Generous Backer tier): www.patreon.com/getk2 (just launched)

It's not a design flaw. Depends on how you use the module or component output. Obviously the latter is more flexible at the moment.

I tried using it as a component Menu Home: K2 » Item listings » Categories (please correct me if I am wrong!)
but nothing shows up when using the JoomShaper-Shooter template (www.joomshaper.com).
I have contacted JoomShaper (no reply yet).
I would be grateful if you could provide some hints on how to use CSS overrides.
Thanks
Christoph

For K2 templating have a look here: getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/174-templating-with-k2-and-the-concepts-of-sub-templates?upd

If the component is now shown in your homepage, it's because it's not rendered at all. It's not a K2 issue.
