Class 'K2Model' not found was created by lillianfidler

My website is down with this error: Class 'K2Model' not found

I tried disabling the plugin through ftp, but that gave me an error: 'article not found'

Everything should be the latest joomla update.

Not sure what to do, so any assistance, greatly appreciated!

Are you using any other extensions that work with K2?

I would also recommend you install the latest dev build of K2 in the meantime in case the previous installation got borked or something: github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip

I suggest that you set the error display level to maximum in the global configuration, this way you will see more details and information about the error and the file that caused this error.
Then copy/paste the error message here, so we can help.

Thank you, so I guess I can just move the files over via ftp? Would I need to do anything else? I cannot login to the back-end... much appreciated!

This link is not working with me.
Try to set the error reporting to Development and check again

If you can access the Joomla backend, re-install K2 from: github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip

THEN get back to us IF you still get the error.

In this case, I often login to phpmyadmin, and disable all 3rd party K2 extensions, then test them one by one.
This maybe a little bit difficult task, but it is not possible to reinstall K2 via ftp, AFAIK

Disable any system plugins related to K2, simply add a _ in front of their folder (using FTP). If your backend comes up after that (most likely), reinstall K2 and let me know.

Thank you,

I disabled the plugin under plugin/system as well as the component. Now I'm getting this error when trying to login:

404
Article not found

I just disabled the component under the administrator folder and now I can at least login, I'll try reinstalling now.

I was able to login and also reinstall k2 with the files that you gave me.

However, the data that was there on the website under k2 is now all gone... Any idea on that? Would be a pain to recreate it!

Did you previously uninstall K2? If you did that (I hope you didn't), then all DB records of K2 are removed.
